Translating to “I’ll leave it up to you”, this is the ultimate chef’s table experience, and here’s a list of the best spots to have sushi omakase, according to Tatler Best 2025

There is certainly no shortage of incredible Japanese restaurants in Malaysia, and that includes our flourishing Japanese omakase dining scene. From the inaugural Tatler Best of Malaysia awards, many of our shortlisted restaurants were omakase restaurants.

As the ultimate act of trust between chef and diner, experienced and talented chefs bring together their skills and seasonality of produce into their arsenal to create intimate and memorable moments. This showcases not only their technical skills, but also their deep understanding of flavour pairings and ingredients.

In lieu of the deep understanding of seasonality and flavour knowledge, omakase does have the tendency to lean towards the pricer side of dining, with the best of the best produce being presented at its peak. An experience that is catered, thoughtful, and spontaneous, many might consider it a priceless experience—no two omakase sessions are the same.

What sets these Tatler Best establishments apart is not merely their technical excellence, but exceptional hospitality and premium ingredients too. Whether you're a seasoned omakase enthusiast or embarking on your first chef's choice journey, these restaurants offer an intimate glimpse into the soul of Japanese cuisine, refined through the lens of Malaysia's vibrant culinary culture.
