Set against the lush backdrop of Sentosa, The Residences at W offers a unique canvas for luxurious living, where modern design meets the tranquillity of island life. Within this prestigious development, interior design firm Chalked worked on two exceptional projects: a three-bedroom ground-floor unit and a four-bedroom penthouse unit.

The 2,551 sq ft ground-floor apartment is designed as a family-friendly haven that balances style with functionality. One of the project’s primary challenges was transforming the existing planters around the pool into a more usable area, inserting a stylish daybed that encourages relaxation and outdoor enjoyment. This clever adaptation enhances the outdoor living experience while adding a playful element to the home.

In the hands of Ricky Tay, design partner at interior firm Livspace, this enviable Sentosa Cove home was taken to an even higher level of sophistication and user satisfaction.

This 2,500 sq ft Sentosa apartment, located in the Cape Royale condominium in Singapore’s coveted District 4, boasts gorgeous views of the ocean, which Tay used as a starting point for the home’s décor and aesthetics. The client, who works as a venture capitalist, also owns various prized artworks, which the designer installed at strategic spots throughout the home to act as visual highlights.

The first impression one gets from the overall look of the four-bedroom Sentosa Cove apartment is that of a supremely comfortable, lived-in space dotted with resort-style touches. Light-hued walls, timber furnishings, wooden floors, plush upholstery, tropical motifs, and an overarching airy feel evoke memories of balmy evenings spent nursing a drink on some faraway, sun-kissed island paradise.

Taking a cue from tropical resorts, this terrace house in Sentosa Cove has been designed in the style of a holiday home for its owners; the family fell in love with it and even made it their primary residence during the pandemic. Singapore-based firm Akihaus set out to design a calming, resort-style environment for a Chinese national who desired a space to host friends and business associates. The renovation was also to be completed within a span of nine months.

The goal was to create an interior with a refined tropical aesthetic, without taking the attention away from the idyllic sea views. The 3,702 sq ft estate has undergone an elegant transformation with the use of natural materials such as dark timber, granite, and other natural stone varieties. To top it off, design director Lawrence Puah sought to create what he calls “green scapes” throughout the home with vertical gardens, a green wall in the entertainment space, and a garden-themed living room.

The house features a modern design with expansive windows throughout the open plan, and a rooftop terrace for the homeowners and guests to bask in the beauty of the surrounding scenery.

Working in collaboration with The Interior Lab, Benjamin Kim and his wife Serene Tan reimagined their three-storey residence, once imbued with Mediterranean influences, into their dream home, now evoking a contemporary, cosy feel with personal touches.

Inspiration drawn from hotel suites loved by the well-travelled pair is evident throughout the space, incorporating luxurious natural materials such as wood, marble, travertine, and other stone varieties. The new furnishings from retailer Space Furniture also add a refined touch to the home, complementing the homeowners’ existing pieces.

Initially drawn to the property’s verdant landscape, the couple also worked alongside Midori Works to bring outdoor elements into their home.

After being impressed by Prestige Global Designs’ project featured in Tatler Homes Singapore, the homeowners of this duplex promptly enlisted the award-winning design practice to give their 3,500 sq ft property a makeover tailored to their needs.

Inspired by the clients’ personalities, each room within the apartment was carefully transformed to accommodate each family member’s lifestyle and personal passions. The husband is an avid photographer, while the wife enjoys cooking; their daughter appreciates bohemian-style interiors, and their son is a big fan of Lego blocks and the Star Wars movie franchise.

Made for entertaining guests, the abode boasts waterfront views and implements design elements that reflect the presence of nature and the local wildlife seen around Sentosa. These allusions include a chinoiserie-style gold wallpaper with flora and fauna motifs, and a peacock-inspired powder room.
