While the spotlight was definitely on Asian artists this year (come on, a 2NE1 reunion?), the other musical acts at Coachella were certainly no slouches in the style department.
The most Instagrammed music festival in the world made its comeback last weekend, and its stages saw their share of dazzling and electric outfits. This year, music fans were treated to stellar performances that included Harry Styles sparkling in a sexy, sequin jumpsuit alongside Shania Twain, Billie Eilish rocking out on stage in her signature baggy tee and grail-worthy Nike sneakers, as well as a Balenciaga-clad Justin Bieber channeling hip-hop stars of the ‘90s.

1. Doja Cat

Doja Cat brought Planet Her to California with an extravagant set and an otherworldly outfit to match. Performing with Tyga, the Need to Know singer flaunted a custom Caroline Reznik dress with blue sequins.

2. Harry Styles

After stripping off his massive faux fur coat, Harry Styles dazzled like a modern-day Mick Jagger in his custom Gucci rainbow sequin jumpsuit, inspired by a skirt from the Italian brand’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection. His glittering get-up matched that of his surprise guest, Shania Twain, who wore a ‘60s-style minidress complete with go-go boots.

3. Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish may have made her entrance in a massive white puffer jacket from B James, but she looked Happier Than Ever jumping around in her signature sporty outfit, this time comprising a graffiti-print baggy tee and cycling shorts by Conrad. Her shoes allowed for all that movement, too: the popstar wore the coveted PSNY x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.

4. Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber dialled it back to the '90s with his shirtless ensemble reminiscent of those worn by OG hip-hop stars, but of course the piece themselves were new. Over his Calvin Klein underwear, the Peaches singer threw on a pair of baggy Balenciaga jeans and the brand’s new Defender sneakers.

5. Megan Thee Stallion

For her Coachella debut, Megan Thee Stallion took her hot girl look into the future with two custom Dolce & Gabbana looks. The rapper came on stage with a sculpted, metallic cyborg armour, which she later took off to reveal a silver, Swarovski crystal-studded bodysuit worthy of any sci-fi film.

6. Phoebe Bridgers

Mirroring her recent Grammys look, indie rock darling Phoebe Bridgers was all gothic glamour in her Gucci mini dress, crafted from black velvet and lined with crystal embroidery.
7. Princess Nokia

New York rapper Princess Nokia seemed to step right out of the 2000s with her mid-riff-baring ensemble, comprising a custom corset with twisted scarf straps and a pair of statement-making embroidered jeans. To drive home the Y2K aesthetic, she aptly completed her look with bandanas and multiple rhinestone-studded Western belts.
8. Caroline Polachek

Indie songstress Caroline Polachek took to the stage in looks by two buzzy fashion designers from New York Fashion Week. The first was an-all black gothic get-up by Elena Velez, which featured a black bodysuit and a skirt draped with fabric straps. The second was an ethereal lace gown by Dion Lee, the same one worn by Polachek in her Sirens music video, this time paired with neon green boots.
9. Tinashe
If her Grammys look wasn’t proof enough that she knows how to rock the colour pink, Tinashe made the case yet again at Coachella, where she wore a heart patchwork skirt and top, both from buzzy Brooklyn brand Marshall Columbia. (You may recall seeing the Powerpuff Girls-esque top on Dua Lipa, too.) To complete the look, Tinashe sported a hot pink pair of Hood By Air x Gentle Monster sunglasses.
