The list incudes 17 new entries as well as restaurants from 17 cities around the continent

Asia's 50 Best Restaurants has returned with its annual 51-100 List for 2023, marking the third year of the list recognising a great number of restaurants around the continent. The Asia's 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony will take place in Singapore on March 28 for its first full in-person awards ceremony since 2019.

This year's list sees 17 new entries and marks the first time a restaurant from the Japanese city of Toyama is making an appearance. A total of 10 restaurants that were named in last year's Asia's 50 Best list fell into the 51-100 list, notably Seoul's Joo Ok, which fell from 18th in 2022 to 51st this year, and 7th Door, also in Seoul, that moved from 26th place to 55th.

Hong Kong takes the crown for the most entries on the list with eight restaurants of which three are new entries, including Yong Fu (#54), Ando (#61), and Estro (#62), that have all been a part of the Tatler Dining Kichen series just last year in 2022. Yong Fu also claims the title of this year's highest new entry.

Singapore and Bangkok each have six entries on this year's list. Thevar in Singapore, which ranked at #92 last year, rose to #56, while Lolla, also in Singapore, (#75) climbed to #63. Singapore's new entries are Nae:um (#83), Claudine (#85), and Summer Pavilion (#86). Bangkok's highest entry is newcomer Côte by Mauro Colagreco, which stands at #71 above Wana Yook (#72).

Three entries come from Taiwan with Logy (#57) and Adachi Sushi (#87) in Taipei and Liberte (#96) in Kaohsiung. Meanwhile, Jakarta's new entry August (#95) was awarded the American Express One To Watch award and is the sole entry from Indonesia.

Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur is home to three of the restaurants on the list: Dewakan (#74), Eat & Cook (#79), and Nadodi (#94). Last year, Dewakan was named #50 on the Asia's 50 Best list.

Japan claims seven entries on the list with five new entries, including Toyama's L'évo (#60) and Tokyo's Sugita (#64) and Esquisse (#67). Meanwhile, China claims six entries with Hangzhou's Jin Sha ranking as China's highest listing at #59. Beijing’s newcomer Ling Long is named #77, while Shanghai’s Meet the Bund, also a new entry is #89.

Four restaurants from India are also named on the list with Bukhara (#52) in New Delhi and Americano (#66), The Table (#78), and new entry Ekaa (#93) from Mumbai.  Colombo's Ministry of Crab is Sri Lanka's only entry on the list at #69, a fall from its previous ranking of #35.

Anticipation is high for Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, if only to find out who moves up and down in ranking, or even completely out of the list.
