Nae:um excels at storytelling, basing its seasonal menus on memories of chef-owner Louis Han’s past. The edition titled “Front Yard Barbeque”, for instance, places a greater emphasis on roast meats. The restaurant’s elevated take on traditional Korean dishes is seen in its somyeon topped with roasted black pork, barbecued Wagyu tenderloin and hotteok. On that note, Nae:um’s desserts are a standout, with sizeable portions for the melon lime punch (which also functions as a palate cleanser) and hotteok, both of which feature an intriguing use of Korean ingredients. Nae:um’s beverage programme also features unique pairings of alcoholic drinks uncommon in Singapore. Hospitality is far from lacking, with friendly staff members ready to answer queries. Han makes an effort to serve the petit fours himself and personally escort guests to the door afterwards, adding a warm and personable touch to the entire experience.
