A Singaporean bar wins Best Bar in Asia, while two entries from Hong Kong make the list
The creme de la creme of the world's bar industry gathered last night in Barcelona for the reveal of the World’s 50 Best Bars list for 2022, where the city's Paradiso bar was crowned the World's Best Bar, marking the first time the title has been awarded to an establishment outside of London or New York.
Jigger & Pony in Singapore placed at number 12 and was the highest entry from Asia, after placing second in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022 list in April.
Within Asia, only eight bars made the list, down from 15 last year. These were Singapore's Manhattan (#33); Bangkok's BKK Social Club (#14, also the winner of Best New Opening) and Tropic City (#24); plus Coa (#17) and Argo (#28) from Hong Kong. New Delhi's Sidecar (#26) and Tokyo's Bar Benfiddich (#48) round out the Asian representation.
The 51-100 list was released last week and included 14 bars from Asia. Singapore was dominant in this list, with Sago House (#51), 28 Hongkong Street (#55), MO Bar (#57), Analogue (#65), Atlas (#67), No Sleep Club (#69), Nutmeg & Clove (#74), and Republic (#90). Hong Kong's sole entry was Quinary (#56), while Bangkok had two entries with Vesper (#79) and The Bamboo Bar (#95). Tokyo's The SG Club (#63), Taipei's Indulge Experimental Bistro (#82), and Tesouro in Goa (#99) filled out the rest of the entries from Asia.
