The Buenos Aires-inspired bar in the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok takes home the first award announced as part of Asia's 50 Best Bars 2022

In the run-up to the announcement of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022, BKK Social Club at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok was named winner of the Art of Hospitality Award, the first special award to be announced as part of this year’s awards.

Led by beverage manager Philip Bischoff, the bar takes inspiration from Buenos Aires, Argentina, bringing the buzz of the South American capital to Bangkok, in particular through a drinks offering that includes innovative cocktails such as the signature Plantation pinepple rum-based Evita, and the Criollo, which brings Argentinian Torrontes and Widges gin together with a variety of fruits.

The Art of Hospitality Award recognises the service and professionalism delivered at BKK Social Club. It’s something that Bischoff has honed over many years, attracting awards all the while. At 27, Bischoff worked at Le Lion – Bar de Paris in Hamburg in his native Germany, during which time it received the Best New International Bar Team at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. Bischoff also headed up Amano in Berlin when it was awarded Best Hotel Bar and Best Bar Team at the Mixology Bar Awards. And while looking after Manhattan at the Regent Singapore, the bar topped Asia’s 50 Best Bars list in 2017 and 2018 and ranked third on the World’s 50 Best Bars ranking in 2018.

“Hospitality is not a 9-5. It’s about mutual respect and the understanding that serving is something great. Making people happy makes me happy. Bartending was my way into this amazing industry,” Bischoff has said. “I … enjoy being the person behind the bar, being a part of creating special moments in other people’s lives. That’s what made me go into this 100 percent.”

The Art of Hospitality Award will be presented along with a series of other individual awards and the announcement of Asia's 50 Best Bars 2022 on April 28 at a live ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand.
