Disney+’s newest K-drama Soundtrack #1 is here to warm our hearts with its best friends-turned-lovers story and captivating music

Soundtrack #1 is the latest Korean story to join Disney+’s growing library of Korean content, joining the likes of Grid, Rookie Cops and Crazy Love.

Premiering on March 23, Soundtrack #1 will be top-billed by Han So-hee and Park Hyung-sik. It will explore what happens when unrequited love mixes with music to threaten the stability of a life-long friendship.

1. It stars Han So-hee and Park Hyung-sik

After showing viewers her versatility as an actress in two Netflix shows Nevertheless and My Name, actress Han So-hee is now trying her hand at another story of young love.

Han rose to fame following her role as Da-kyung in South Korea’s highest-rated cable TV drama World of the Married.

Joining her is Park Hyung-sik who was recently seen in the zombie drama Happiness. He also appeared in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and the Korean adaptation of Suits.

Park is a member of the boy band ZE:A, with his breakthrough role in the romance drama High Society.

In Soundtrack #1, their characters will be forced to confront their long underlying romantic feelings for each other.

2. When friendship and romance collide

Set in modern-day South Korea, Soundtrack #1 tells the story of struggling songwriter Eun-soo (Han) and her best friend of 19 years Sun-woo (Park).

Han is tasked with the challenge of writing a hit song about unrequited love and the pair end up unexpectedly living together and sharing their own stories of love to finish the song.

Unknown to Eun-soo, Sun-woo has long been hiding his true feelings for her out of fear of ruining their friends and losing her forever.

As the story evolves and the two start to spend every waking moment together, unspoken feelings begin to emerge and they are forced to walk a fine line between friendship and romance.

3. A talented director

Soundtrack #1 will see the debut of screenwriter Ahn Saebom while director Kim Hee-won is helming the series.

Kim is best known for directing Vincenzo, The Crowned Clown and Money Flower. Besides Soundtrack #1, her next project will be the Korean adaptation of Little Women.

4. The supporting cast

Besides Han and Park, Parasite actress Lee Jung-eun is also part of the cast.

There will be special appearances by Park Hoon from Descendants of the Sun and Memories of the Alhambra as well as Park Min-jung from The Tale of Nokdu and Nobody Knows.

5. Music from popular artists

Music will be a huge part of Soundtrack #1. It will combine emotive storytelling with music from some of South Korea’s most popular artists including Kyuhyun from Super Junior, Park Bo-ram and Davichi.
