Burberry is the latest luxury brand to collaborate with streetwear giant Supreme. Here’s what you need to know about their capsule collection dropping this week

Supreme is not getting out of the spotlight anytime soon, not least because the American skate brand is now teaming up with Burberry.

Yes, Burberry, the British luxury fashion brand that is best known for its celebrity-approved handbags and timeless outerwear staples that come with a dose of English elegance.

How does all that translate into a collaboration with one of the coolest streetwear brands ever? We got our answer through the new lookbook that Burberry has shared of the capsule collection, which is part of Supreme’s Spring/Summer 2022 offerings.

The collection largely consists of tracksuits and outerwear pieces like a car coat, a trucker jacket a denim jacket and a shearling-collar puffer jacket—all of which are Burberry signatures.

To complete the look, there are also casual pieces for the everyday, if your idea of casual comes with a hefty price tag: think T-shirts, jogging pants, denim shorts, jeans and even a bucket hat modelled by Burberry muse Irina Shayk. There are also striped silk pyjamas in the mix, which offer a twist on the Burberry check pattern that has long graced the British brand’s beloved trench coats.

The prized item for Supreme collectors, though, will likely be the limited-edition skateboard, which features the check pattern stamped with the Supreme logo.

Even though it caters to streetwear fans, the Burberry x Supreme collection doesn’t stray too far from the former’s refined house codes. The pieces are elevated with materials like silk and leather, and are embroidered with both the Supreme logo and Burberry’s vintage Equestrian Knight logo.

Still, the collaboration isn’t all that surprising if you’ve been following Supreme’s track record of tie-ups with the likes of Rimowa and Missoni. Last year, the brand made waves with its unprecedented partnership with American luxury jeweller Tiffany & Co. Supreme will likely continue to shake up the luxury world now that it has appointed the rule-breaking, creative polymath Tremaine Emory as its creative director, too.
