Do we want this new The North Face x Gucci collaboration? Yes. Do we need it? Also, yes
New year, new collaboration: The North Face and Gucci are teaming up once again after the wild success of its first outdoors-inspired collection.
Shot among the majestic natural landscapes of Iceland, the second collaboration between the fashion brands has resulted in ready-to-wear pieces (including the ever-popular bombers and vests), luggage, accessories, shoes, hiking boots, multi-pocketed backpacks and padded jackets and more utilitarian—yet, oddly chic—apparel that both fashion lovers and adventurers will appreciate.
Similar to its first collaboration, The North Face x Gucci Chapter 2 is inspired by the spirit of exploration, and draws on values of self-discovery and self-expression. True to its collaborative spirit, pieces in the collection feature the iconic Gucci GG monogram, and also boast The North Face’s instantly recognisable branding as well.
What’s more, original styles from The North Face’s archive (more specifically, its ’90s styles) have been revived and refreshed with Gucci’s own archival prints—think dreamy forests, hills and wooded landscapes inspired, no doubt, by The North Face’s rugged roots.

The North Face and Gucci are also taking things beyond the surface: the collection uses Econyl, a regenerated material made from fishing nets, and, in particular, its down insulation uses 100% of the material instead of conventional nylon, and has been certified “Responsible” by Control Union.
The eco-minded approach makes its way down to the packaging as well. The bright pink packaging for the collection uses paper and cardboard from sustained managed forest sources, while uncoated paper has been used to make it fully recyclable. Boxes for the collection have also been designed with handles to avoid excessive usage of shopping bags as well.
