A night of art, charity and celebration, Tatler Ball 2023 truly outdid itself, thanks to these amazing details that came together beautifully that night

The dazzle of Christmas lights, the shimmer of ball gowns and the rapid clicking of shutterbugs—these are just some of several details heralding the Christmas season and with it, the 2023 Tatler Ball. A night of giving, celebration, and enjoying the finer things in life, this year’s Tatler Ball took on the wistfully winter-inspired theme of ‘Silver Frost Gala’, kicking off on a grand note at the grand ballroom of the St Regis Kuala Lumpur.

Tatler Ball partner and prestigious Swiss jewellery and watchmaker Chopard truly delivered on a Hollywood-glam red carpet experience, dressing Tatler Ball guests like Scha Alyahya, Rizman Nordin and wife Nurida Suraya, Thanuja Ananthan, Jasmine Suraya, and more individuals in exquisite timepieces and jewellery from its high jewellery vaults—with some pieces said to be valued at over several million ringgit each. Guests donned these sparkling showstoppers and jumped at the chance to snap pictures at Chopard’s photowall at the hotel's main foyer.

As the official car partner for Tatler Ball 2023, BMW Malaysia showcased a sleek white BMW i7 in the grand ballroom of the St Regis Kuala Lumpur, displaying the luxury EV near the stage area for guests to snap photos to their heart’s content. A select group of guests including Zaireen Ibrahim, Datuk Yvonne Chia, Alia Bastamam and others were even chauffeured to the St Regis Kuala Lumpur in the spacious backseat of the i7, making their grand entrance to the hotel with unforgettable flair.

This award-winning luxury hotel in Kuala Lumpur Sentral did not disappoint with an exclusive Tatler Ball menu designed to impress. Upon arrival, guests were treated to delicious canapés served by the St Regis Kuala Lumpur, along with an exquisite multi-course dinner prepared by The St Regis Kuala Lumpur's executive chef Keith Hooker, executive sous chef Azizi Taslim and their team.

A scented adventure with Rituals

For one night only, the ladies and gents' bathrooms of the St Regis Kuala Lumpur were adorned with luxury candles, scent sticks and sakura-themed mirror decor, much to the delight of guests who snapped their mandatory Tatler Ball bathroom selfies and wefies. On top of this, each table at Tatler Ball was also set with candles from Rituals, and each Tatler Ball guest was gifted with a bag from Rituals containing a luxurious body scrub, a candle, and a gift card from Valiram.

Jiving on the java at the Bacha Coffee stand

For the first time, world-renowned luxury coffee maker Bacha Coffee had its very own counter at Tatler Ball, serving up pre-dinner delights such as coffee-based cocktails, coffee mocktails, and espresso martinis, all served in Bacha’s exquisite glassware. Guests also get a delightful surprise from Bacha Coffee in their gift bags to take home after the ball, after enjoying warm after-dinner pistachio and raspberry croissants.

It wouldn’t be Tatler Ball without the clinking of crystal glasses and champagne flutes raised in toasts. Thanks to Tatler Ball partner Moet Hennessy Diageo, the first arrivals at Tatler Ball (and the ensuing crowd after that) were welcomed with generous servings of cocktails, wine, and champagne by Moët & Chandon, Hennessy and Minuty. The brand also sponsored two silent auction items comprising a Moët Hennessy Diageo Gift Set with bottles of Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial Large Format and a limited edition Hennessy bottle.

For the first time, Malaysian-owned international art gallery Heritouch Gallery made its way to Tatler Ball this year with a stunning live art performance by renowned Malaysian artist Ben Chong. Titled Chasing Myth, the 120cm by 90cm art piece by Chong was also one of the 11 amazing items up for bid in Tatler's charity silent auction in the early part of the evening.

Art lovers didn't hesitate to pay a visit to Heritouch Gallery's designated area of art pieces on display, where helpful attendants from the gallery were ready to greet them and share the amazing artworks on display.

All about Armani Beauty

Did somebody say Armani Beauty? Tatler Ball’s beauty partner for the night also set up a dedicated makeup counter in the ladies’ room for lipstick touchups with red carpet flair. Another photo-worthy corner that was popular with guests was Armani Beauty’s striking all-red Armani Prive Holiday Concierge booth at the foyer. Tatler Ball guests took home a sweet-smelling memento of this memorable night in their gift bags, packed with a special fragrance and lipstick from Armani Beauty.

Beauty and wellness meet at Beauty & Co

As a special treat for the stylish belles of the ball, Tatler Ball’s official wellness partner Beauty & Co hosted an exclusive ‘Beauty & The Biohacker’ suite takeover at the St Regis Kuala Lumpur’s award-winning Iridium Spa, two days before Tatler Ball. On the big night itself, the Beauty & Co florally-clad photowall was an unsurprising hit, as host Lycia Calvet chatted with new arrivals against the floral and pastel backdrop. Guests were also treated with vouchers for Beauty & Co. and ĀMANÏ Wellness’ Beauty, the Biohacker treatments, and more in their gift bags.

Finally, Beauty & Co also gifted Tatler Ball 2023 Diamond Award recipient Datuk Yvonne Chia with gift vouchers worth RM36,000.

Stationed strategically at the main entrance escalator to the foyer was a towering Christmas tree from Pavilion Collection, where guests gathered for memorable snapshots of the night against glittering silver, white and gold decor. 

Celebrating excellence with Royal Selangor

Once again, renowned Malaysian pewter manufacturer and retailer Royal Selangor came on board to sponsor three custom-made pewter trophies for three exceptional women who were honoured with Tatler’s Impact, Diamond and Cultural Icon awards for the night: Professor Dr Woo Yin Ling, Datuk Yvonne Chia and Amanda Nell Eu respectively.

From just three to four silent auction items last year at Tatler Ball, this year saw a total of 11 incredible sponsors contributing generously to Tatler's latest silent auction fundraiser in support of the three charity organisations selected as beneficiaries for the night.

From a three-night stay for two in the Datai Langkawi's One-Bedroom Beach Villa to a personalied five-course menu for 10 pax curated by Chef Raymond Tham of the recently Michelin-starred restaurant Beta, this year's silent auction items were the best of the best, thanks to the generosity of The Datai Langkawi, Ritz Carlton Koh Samui, Malaysia Airlines, Moët Hennessy Diageo, The Brasserie at St Regis Kuala Lumpur, Nara Clinic, Tenshin, Heritouch Gallery, Aurum Theatre, and Datuk Nicol David.
