A transformational leader shattering the glass ceiling in the banking sector, Datuk Yvonne Chia made history as the first female CEO of a commercial bank in Malaysia
With more than four decades of experience in the financial services industry, Chia has profoundly impacted ASEAN banking, having helmed RHB Bank Berhad and Hong Leong Bank Berhad. “In a career marked by change and evolution, I have embraced each transition in my journey as an opportunity for personal growth. I developed to be quite a master of change and an avid learner. “I like to say women arrived on merit. The doors are open, but the test is, do we stay long enough at the top to create impact? Only merit and high performance can sustain us. We need to engage with the young and learn from them what are new insights and technological trends. We have the advantage of experience and wisdom. It’s a formidable combination.”
Along with a pewter trophy from Royal Selangor, Chia also received gift vouchers from Beauty & Co. valued at RM39,000.
