Tatler Dining Chef of the Year 2024 Stephan Duhesme welcomes guests to his new restaurant, one of the most anticipated openings of the year. The chefs behind a well-loved neo-Filipino restaurant in Poblacion head to Salcedo Village to open a stylish Southeast Asian concept with contemporary twists. One of Siargao’s most popular dining destinations, forced to shut after Typhoon Odette, is reborn in Metro Manila and open to the public from June 12.

1. Mood for Food Philippines 2024
Location: Shangri-La the Fort, BGC, Taguig City
Tatler Dining proudly presents Mood for Food, a new food festival featuring eight top restaurants in the country. Happening this June 28-29, the gourmet experience brings you eight bespoke dishes created exclusively for the event, grounded in a uniting theme: elevated comfort food with a Filipino twist, a dose of nostalgia and modernity with every bite.

2. Noodle Lab at The Grid Food Market
Location: Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati City
Ally Lim-Gonzales started Noodle Lab during the pandemic, selling her fresh, homemade pasta online. Since then, the brand has grown to impressive heights, from opening its own commissary to joining pop-ups and collaborations with other brands. Its latest milestone sees Lim-Gonzales and her team at The Grid Food Market, stall 17, for the next three months, where guests can enjoy dishes like the 100-layer lasagna, squid ink bucatini, and even other dishes like whipped ricotta truffled honey toast.

3. A Mano: Brunch menu

Location: Aranata City, Quezon City; BGC, Taguig City; and Rockwell Center, Makati City
Italian favourite A Mano has officially launched its new brunch menu, available from Fridays to Sundays. Dig into indulgent plates like the panettone French toast, or try out lighter options like the breakfast pizzette and granola soft serve parfait. Hungry? Look no further than the full Italian breakfast, comprised of a maritozzo bun, two eggs, Italian sausage, spicy salami rice, sautéed mushrooms, thinly sliced guanciale, cotechino nuggets, and cherry tomatoes.

4. Papillon
Location: Salcedo Village, Makati City
Chefs Alphonse Sotero and RJ Ramos of Poblacion hit Lámpara are opening the doors to their newest restaurant, Papillon. Decked out in hues of teal green and a lush rainforest theme, the restaurant brings you a contemporary take on Southeast Asian specialities such as the Eggs, Eggs, Eggs: Son-in-Law eggs topped with ikura and served with tamarind sauce. Like Lámpara, you can expect delicious, creative cocktails from the Papillon bar, too.

5. Your Local at The Balmori Suites Chef’s Table
Location: Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati City
Chef Patrick Go and the Your Local team return to The Balmori Suites Chef’s Table for another pop-up! Catch it until Sunday, the 16th of June to try out brand new dishes, with highlights such as the cured and torched blue mackerel in Criollo cacao vinaigrette, beef lechon toast with truffle aioli, paper-baked halibut with kaffir lime and vegetable escabeche, and coffee crumble cake.

6. Bubu Bars
Location: One Maridien Tower, BGC, Taguig City
Bubu Bars celebrates the opening of its very first flagship store! Best known for its dairy-free ice cream bars, the homegrown brand is a well-loved pick at bazaars and speciality grocers around the metro. Today, they expand their offerings with customisable bars, dairy-free scoops, and even coffee and cocktails, all available at the new flagship shop.

7. Automat

Location: Karrivin Plaza, Makati City
Chef Stephan Duhesme of the acclaimed Filipino restaurant Metiz brings you an exciting new concept, located just upstairs. The Automat experience sits somewhere between à la carte and tasting menu, bridging the gap between casual and fine dining—a niche Duhesme and his team are keenly exploring with their customisable three-course menu, complete with inventive sawsawan and unlimited bowls of rice and soup.
“We wanted it to be prix fixe, but in a way that was adapted to how we eat as Filipinos,” Duhesme reveals. “Filipino food is generous…in the Philippines, there’s nothing worse than a host that doesn’t have a nice and varied spread. It’s almost like you’re considered a bad host.” Head on up to discover intriguing dishes like the tikoy palabok, thrice-cooked tadjang with anchovy-cashew sauce and calamansi kosho, and more.

8. Carlo’s: Brunch menu
Location: Asian Century Center, BGC, Taguig City
Since opening to the public on the 24th of April, Carlo’s has quickly become one of the most popular restaurants in the metro, luring in guests with the promise of American-Italian staples like pizza and pasta. Now, the trendy BGC spot has opened up for breakfast, with dishes like pancake, eggs benedict, and croque madame available from 8am to 11am.

9. M Dining + Bar at The Brittany Hotel
Location: BGC, Taguig City
Although their Chino Roces Avenue home remains shut for renovations, fine dining favourite M Dining + Bar is raring to serve its loyal customers at their M ext. pop-up at The Brittany Hotel until the 21st of July. Tuck into M Dining + Bar’s signature hits, and discover some new and exclusive dishes along the way.

10. Cheshire

There’s a new speakeasy in town, and her name is Cheshire. Helmed by the same group behind Ugly Duck Rooftop Bar and Apotheka, Cheshire is located in the same building, sandwiched between the two trendy nightlife haunts. Stumble into the mysterious speakeasy to discover drinks curated by Pourhouse Hospitality’s Cedrick Allen Mendoza (Re Craft, Flora Gin Bar), presented through their quirky menu fashion after a deck of cards.

11. Alma

Those fortunate to have visited Siargao prior to Typhoon Odette are surely familiar with Alma, the Spanish restaurant boasting quality paella and tasty tapas. Although a string of misfortune forced the beloved restaurant to shut its doors, chef Luis Martinez found a new opportunity to bring Alma back to life, starting with its first location in Poblacion.
Opening on the 12th of June, the stylish restaurant provides a welcome tropical escape from the bustling streets of Poblacion, with a trove of soulful Spanish dishes to enjoy. Graze across tapas like the roasted smoked duck breast or seared scallops with chorizo butter and manchego, then make your way to heftier items like the crispy pork knuckles and wild mushrooms paella topped with 36-hour slow-cooked beef ribs.

The Cebu Food and Wine Festival has a lineup of 60 pocket events, featuring over 40 restaurants, 20 hotels, 27 national chefs, and 10 mixologists.
“Taste Cebu: Food and Wine Festival 2024 is a celebration of culinary excellence. The showcase of the rich and diverse gastronomic landscape and heritage of Cebu allows participants to immerse themselves in the vibrant food culture of these 167 islands that, like you, I'm proud to call my home,” said Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.
14. Bombvinos Bodega introduces a classical wine menu
Bombvinos Bodega announced a new partnership with Gran Hacienda to launch a classical wine menu that focuses on known and celebrated regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy and Chablis, to name a few. Their latest wine offering will launch with a Classic Wine Brunch on June 8 where they will introduce their new lunch menu featuring new creations by chef Don Baldosano.
