1. Valentino’s Celebration of Pink
If there was a single colour that defined 2022, it’s undoubtedly Valentino’s Pantone-registered “Pink PP”. The intense fuchsia shade dominated the fashion house’s fall/winter 2022 collection, which was presented on a runway in the same colour. Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli picked pink because of its versatility—it can be sweet, sexy, or powerful—and because it allowed the couture-like construction of the clothes to come to the fore. The hue lived on beyond the runway through viral red carpet and street style looks from celebrities like Anne Hathaway and Dua Lipa; Valentino’s compelling campaigns featuring brand ambassadors Zendaya and Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton; and the trendy Barbiecore aesthetic sparked by the buzz around the upcoming Barbie film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
