For the Balenciaga autumn-winter 2022 show, Demna Gvasalia brought the outside in with a windy snowstorm contained in an arena that show attendees looked in to. This large-scale snow globe was symbolic of preserving memories and seasons past, according to the show notes. Gvasalia also expressed his support for the people of Ukraine, saying, “This show needs no explanation. It is a dedication to fearlessness, to resistance, and to the victory of love and peace.”

Windswept models trudged along the snowy landscape, faring the “elements” wearing an array of skin-tight bodysuits or flowing garments with oversized fits. Thee colour palette mostly consisted of Balenciaga’s signature black, although there were pops of colour with floral prints in shades of red and orange, while the final look was a dramatic flurry of aqua.
