The actress, who has pivoted to fashion in the past two years, worked with the French house to create this unique capsule collection using vegan materials

Apple leather is one of the latest innovative materials on the block, and French independent label Coperni is using it for the first time for their collaboration with actress and environmentalist Maisie Williams.

Williams has designed two handbags—the Crossbody Swipe and Crossbody Swipe Mini—using perforated vegan apple leather, which is made using the fibres from apple waste that’s naturally dried without chemicals.

“Coperni and I have been quietly working on our collaboration for some time and I’m so proud and excited to finally share what we have created together,” Williams said, adding: “I hope [the bags] will inspire more people to both shop and produce with materials that contribute towards a more sustainable future.”

“Maisie is a real inspiration. From her personality to her various commitments, she is the voice of a generation,” said Coperni designers Arnaud Vaillant and Sebastien Meyer.

Available in silver, berry and forest colours, the collection was inspired by apples in pop culture and art references, as well as the textures of nature like tree moss and forest floors. The bags also come with five customisable metal pins similar to fruit stickers. Shop the bags and accessories here.
