Hong Kong business leaders gathered at one of the city’s most exciting new landmarks, Kai Tak Stadium, to welcome the 2025 cohort of Tatler Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow
Since 2016, Tatler Asia has spotlighted influential young individuals making an impact across the region as Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow. To mark the 10th edition of the prestigious list, unveiled in July, the Gen.T community gathered at Kai Tak Stadium.
Held on September 1 in partnership with HSBC Innovation Banking, the event drew nearly 160 guests, including past honourees Arthur Lam, co-founder and CEO of Negawatt Utility; Tommie Lo, founder and CEO of Preface; and Aaron Lee, founder and CEO of Dash Living. Tribe members who helped curate this year’s list also attended, including Alice So, head of entrepreneurship at Cyberport, and Francis Ngai, founder and CEO of Social Ventures Hong Kong.

The evening began with cocktails and canapés before the main programme, with Tara Sobti, Tatler Hong Kong’s content director and head of VIP, as emcee. Tamara Lamunière, president of Tatler Asia, delivered opening remarks reflecting on nearly a decade of Gen.T. “It is a remarkably difficult time to be an entrepreneur. But the people that we are honouring tonight have demonstrated both the promise and the potential to do something extraordinary at a time when volatility is the norm,” she said, highlighting the community’s evolution into a powerful ecosystem for Asia’s future leaders.

Jonathan Yip, HSBC’s managing director and head of Innovation Banking, Asia, followed with an address on nurturing next-generation changemakers. “What we’re putting together is a group of bankers who are absolutely obsessed with people who are changing the world,” he said, noting how the bank’s vision aligns with the Gen.T honourees’ trailblazing spirit.
A highlight was the panel moderated by Yoyo Chow, Tatler Hong Kong’s Power and Purpose editor. It brought together Ray Chan, co-founder of online platform 9gag and chairman of MemeStrategy, Gary Wan, co-founder of events company Hybrid Group, and serial entrepreneur Kevin Poon, who shared candid insights about resilience and reinvention. Wan described how his group has pivoted repeatedly to keep pace with shifting consumer behaviour, while Poon reflected on the creative drive behind his ventures.
In a moving moment, Chan opened up about losing his firstborn son and how the experience taught him to find purpose in pain and resilience in grief. Now an adviser to humanitarian organisation World Vision Hong Kong, he channels those lessons into giving back. “How can we find the fortune from misfortune? How can we find purpose in pain? That’s the lesson for me, and it’s something I’ve tried to carry into life and into the way I run a company,” he said.

The evening culminated with the official celebration of the 2025 cohort. Lamunière and Chow were joined on stage by Rachel Choy, deputy managing director of Tatler Hong Kong, and HSBC’s Christina Ong, managing director and head of business banking, Commercial Banking and Carolyn Chen, managing director and head of investor coverage, Innovation Banking, to present honourees with a personalised copy of Tatler featuring their portrait on the cover.
The night ended with new connections forged and parting gifts of Frédéric Malle fragrance—a fitting reminder that, like a carefully blended scent, great ideas are made to linger.
