Roland Sharman and Esther Röling lead the fifth edition of the Adventure Clean Up Challenge
The Adventure Clean Up Challenge (ACUC), Hong Kong's only multidisciplinary adventure challenge with an environmental mission, returns for its fifth edition from October 24 to November 1, 2026, with an awards ceremony to follow in late December. Founded by Esther Röling and co-directed alongside Roland Sharman and Nick Tsao, the challenge sends teams of athletes and outdoor enthusiasts armed with coasteering, climbing, hiking and kayaking skills to reach remote inlets and coastal pockets that conventional clean-up operations can't. Across its first four editions, ACUC has mobilised more than 500 athletes across 20 coastal sites, removing a cumulative 8,000kg of waste from Hong Kong's coastline. "This fifth edition is our biggest yet," says Röling of the milestone. The event remains free and open to all, supported by Jebsen Capital, Mandarin Oriental, Santa Lucia Asset Management and Rivercircle Investments.

Fintech platform Qupital, co-founded by 2019 Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow (Hong Kong) honouree Andy Chan, raised US$300 million in a combination of equity and debt as part of its Series C funding round. The capital injection bolsters the company’s mission to connect cross-border Chinese e-commerce sellers with global consumer markets.
One of Qupital’s earliest backers is the Hong Kong-based VC firm Mindworks Capital, which participated in the start-up’s seed funding round in 2017. Jeffrey Wu, director at Mindworks Capital, told Tatler in a written statement that Qupital represents “a great example of what Hong Kong entrepreneurship can achieve on the global stage”.
“[It’s] a business founded in Hong Kong, built around a distinctly cross-border Asian model, and now scaling globally by connecting Chinese e-commerce sellers with U.S. consumers,” Wu added. “With its latest US$300 million capital raise, we believe Qupital is well positioned for its next chapter of growth and, ultimately, a potential U.S. IPO.”
