Buddy Bites secures US$4.2 million in Series A funding

Hong Kong-founded direct-to-consumer pet care start-up Buddy Bites has raised US$4.2 million in a Series A funding round led by Digitalis Ventures, marking the firm’s first venture into an Asia-based pet food company. Co-founded by CEO Ryan Black, a 2023 Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow (Hong Kong) honouree, the brand reported that it’s passed US$6 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), with 10,000 new customers over the past year.
Built on subscriptions, which now account for 85.9% of total revenue, Buddy Bites also operates a two-for-one donation model, giving away 1 kg of pet food to animal shelters for every 2 kg sold. Having donated over 188 tonnes (3.7 million meals) across Hong Kong and Singapore over the past year, the team plans to use the fresh capital to further regional expansion into Taiwan.
“This is a big moment for Buddy Bites and for premium pet nutrition in Asia,” said Black in a statement. “Digitalis is perhaps the most experienced investor in the space—they're betting on a category we believe is about to take off, and on a brand built to give back in the process.”

Drawing on key takeaways from her Antarctic Climate Expedition in 2023, Chung shared practical insights on youth empowerment, sustainable tourism, and driving grassroots environmental impact with the students.

Tiffany Chan, Hong Kong’s first Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) player and a 2018 Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow (Hong Kong) honouree, teed off at a ceremonial launch event on August 27 to announce the LPGA Tour’s maiden stop in Hong Kong. Scheduled from March 4 to March 7, 2027 at The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, the tournament—titled the Futu Ladies World Championship, presented by Moomoo—features a USD$3.4 million (HK$26.5 million) prize purse, the highest for any LPGA event in Asia. As Hong Kong’s first professional LPGA player, Chan will compete in the 78-player field against top international talent on her home turf.

Teach For Hong Kong merges into the Melo ecosystem

Educational non-profit Teach For Hong Kong, co-founded by Arnold Chan, a 2018 Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow (Hong Kong) honouree, announced on August 31 that it will merge into the Melo Foundation ecosystem to expand its long-term social impact. Teach For Hong Kong will continue operating as an independent brand to address educational inequity, while leveraging Melo’s network of corporate leaders and CEOs to enhance support, mentorship, and opportunities for its community of fellows.
