To highlight the versatility of laminates for homeowners and designers alike, UPSTRS_ creative director Dennis Cheok sought to create an experiential centre as the new showroom for local laminate brand Arova. “The brief given to the showroom designer was to integrate technology into this space, while making it look out of the ordinary, instead of a typical showroom,” shares Eric Lim, founder of Arova. “We’ll like to support more local design talents, and moving forward, we’ll like more people to be aware of the versatile uses of laminates.”

One its most striking elements of the showroom is the ‘Pixel City’ area, which features removable rectangular blocks clad in laminates of various colours. Its pixellated look is echoed in the design of the ceiling near the entrance. The main reception area also features pivoted walls and foldable platforms, which allow for maximum flexibility in the space. The space also features a digital visualiser that allows visitors to envision the use of laminates in various rooms, as well as made-in-Spain cabinetry accessories from Boxx Euro, the sister brand of Arova.
