1. Ce Soir

Tatler Asia

The same folks behind French-European restaurant Le Jardin and pet-friendly brunch spot Café de Nicole’s Flower have come up with its latest concept, Ce Soir, a floral-inspired French dining restaurant. Chef Koh Han Jie helms the kitchen and whips up tantalising plates inspired by natural flowers and the changing of the seasons.

While its menu changes seasonally, gourmands can anticipate mouth-watering plates such as the Ehime prefecture hamachi and black radish thinly sliced and shaped into a rose; and Mozambique langoustines. The crustacean is poached until tender and accompanied by a fragrant vin jaune sauce of red wine procured from the Jura region of France. Save room for dessert; the meal ends on a sweet note with creations like the prickly pear. Created by head pastry chef Suanne Eng, this treat comprises tarte prickly pear sorbet, mascarpone, macerated strawberries, and a buttery almon sable pastry. Book here.

2. Beast Restaurant & Bar

Chef Muhamad Shazmier helms this new modern steakhouse, located at Duxton. He presents a lavish menu featuring various cuts of meat, grilled on a specially designed grill which uses a mix of binchotan charcoal, oak wood and lychee wood.

Look forward to inspired creations, among which are the tuna tataki smoked in-house on binchotan and served alongside a rich foie gras terrine; and grilled pigeon. The latter is deboned and binchotan-grilled, resulting in an aromatic cut with a crisp skin and juicy meat. Rich meaty flavours are balanced with earthy hummus. Complement the meal with a cocktail—the Beast Old Fashioned is an elevated version of the classic concoction, made savoury thanks to the addition of steak fat-washed Evan Williams bourbon whisky.
