Singapore’s café scene is thriving, with various cafes expanding and opening new outlets around the island. For one, the nation’s beloved Tiong Bahru Bakery has opened its 10th outlet in Siglap. Meanwhile, coffee aficionados can visit Brawn & Brains Coffee’s latest outpost along Hamilton Road for hearty brunch fare and aromatic cuppas.

1. Tiong Bahru Bakery

This homegrown bakery has opened its latest outpost in the heart of Siglap. This means easties will be able to enjoy the bakery’s award-winning pastries without the hassle of travelling. Apart from its classic pastries such as croissants, kouign amann and sourdough bread, the Siglap outlet will also feature outlet exclusives like the Your Royal Ryeness milkshake. This indulgent shake is a blend of creamy house-made rye sourdough ice cream and cold brew from local speciality coffee joint Common Man Coffee Roasters.

2. Olsen Bakehouse

Once housed along Crawford Lane, this bakery has since found a new space in Joo Chiat and has retained its signature minimalistic look and locally-inspired treats. The bakery prides itself on offering a range of cakes that are less sweet and just as decadent. Regulars can anticipate popular cakes like the ondeh ondeh, a light and airy pandan-infused cake topped with gula Melaka and fresh coconut flakes. Head to this casual bistro for hearty brunch fare and look forward to western brunch classics with an Asian flair. Beef lovers will not want to miss out on its signature beef burger, featuring a succulent beef patty topped with spiced kombu mayo, cheddar cheese and mushrooms. 4. Well Collective

The group behind Botany Café has opened a new concept, Well Collective, along Punggol. While the Japanese inspired café is still in its soft launch phase, anticipate a menu featuring comforting brunch fare such as Japanese chicken curry sando and truffled beef bowl. The former is a delicious serving of Japanese curry-marinated boneless chicken leg sandwiched between toasted sourdough. The latter is a main course of juicy sous vide steak slices and aromatic truffle oyster dressing on a bed of fluffy Japanese rice. It’s crowned with a perfectly cooked sous vide egg. Book here.

5. Brawn & Brains Coffee

This speciality coffee joint has opened its latest outlet along Hamilton Road. On top of signature pastries and coffee, diners will also get to dig into tantalising savouries like the hearty grain bowl. This main is filled with wholesome ingredients, including long grain rice, quinoa, roasted broccoli, pumpkin, mushrooms and teriyaki chicken.
