1. Beigelhaus
While the vibes are reminiscent of New York City bagel shops, this bakery along Robinson Road has a menu that feels fresh and innovative. Helmed by an ex-chef from Lolla Restaurant, the variety found here expands beyond the usual cream cheese and sliced meat.
Take for instance the Tuna Turner, where tuna chunks and crabsticks come dressed with sriracha mentaiko and furikake; or the Macauli Culkin which features cauliflower steak with beetroot slices, hummus, and sweet paprika. The Muslim-owned store also serves up slivers of house-cured salmon, alongside a series of unique smears (or spreads)—from the kombu butter, tinged with plenty of umami, to a locally inspired kaya and cream cheese combination that is definitely worth a try.

2. Keen’s Bagelry
This takeaway-only shop might be hidden within a lifestyle store, but it hasn’t stopped hungry foodies and social media users alike from discovering its loaded creations. Keen’s Bagelry serves up fusion Japan-American style sandwiches—and is often sold out early in the day.
A peep at its alluring cross section will easily explain the store’s popularity; bagels here come in options of plain, sesame, cheddar, cranberry, and blueberry, and are made even more substantial with additions of smoked salmon, hash brown, turkey ham, and more. Popular options include Bekki, which comes overflowing with creamy, cheesy scrambled eggs and beef bacon; while the hefty Truffle Chicken features oven-baked chicken thigh dressed with umami-laden housemade truffle mayo.

3. Whiskdom
Those with a sweet tooth might already be familiar with Whiskdom, a home-based bakery that gained popularity for its gooey cookies and fudgy brownies. Now, the sweet shop has opened two physical outlets, including a dine-in café located along North Bridge Road.
Before indulging in its sugary treats, lay the tummy with some bagel-wiches. Each bagel is rolled by hand and prepped fresh daily, with signatures that include K-Bae-Gel, a Korean-inspired affair complete with kimchi chicken and gochujang aioli; and the aptly named Eggsplode that comes bursting with egg mayo and furikake. Or opt for the classic pairing of ham, egg, and cheese, then wash everything down with a cup of Dalgona coffee.

4. Able Bagel

It can be a little hard to hunt down Instagram-based bakery Able Bagel. This home-based business first started during the circuit breaker, where earnings from its sandwiches were donated to various charities. Able Bagel has since garnered a large following—all hungry for its (w)holesome treats.
Choose to have the baked goods delivered (the kitchen only opens every Thursday to Sunday), or look out for its offline pop-ups and collaboration. Besides the usual suspects of cheddar and everything bagel, try the unique furikake version for an umami bite instead. They taste good as is, with a simple slick of cream cheese, but taste even better when made into a signature creation. Love You Lox sees dill-cured salmon layered with pickled red onions and scallion schmear; while Eggxtra turns the ordinary egg-mayo combination up a notch, with additions of honey dijon, housemade pickles, and even more egg. For September, the bakery has also collaborated with Creamier to create a cream cheese ice cream, studded with raisins and cinnamon bagel chunks.

5. Two Men Bagel House

Arguably one of the most popular locations for bagels in Singapore, Two Men Bagel House has since expanded to three different locations around town—with people flocking to each for reliably hearty sandwiches. The open kitchen offers a glimpse into the creation process; each bagel is handmade daily and baked fresh.
The menu can be overwhelming due to the abundance of options, but you cannot go wrong with one of its classic creations. Avo Baco is constructed with avocado slices, bacon, tomatoes, sunny side up, and smoked garlic aioli; and the Personal Best brings together uncanny pairings of spam, peanut butter, and hash brown. Look out for various outlet-exclusive options: Holland Village has an okonomiyaki-style Mr Miyagi made with omelette and seaweed vinaigrette, while Tanjong Pagar’s Hogwarts is a playful mix of tamari pork, salted mustard greens, and plum jam. The extensive selection of add-ons makes creating your own sandwich a delicious adventure in itself too.
