The beloved American joint is honouring its first birthday with indulgent and timely offerings this September

It was almost a year ago when we saw snaking queues of excited locals outside Scotts Square, in anticipation of trying Eggslut’s famous egg-focused sandwiches. While the queues have since diminished, our love for this iconic American egg sandwich joint has not.

As Eggslut Singapore turns one this September, the well-loved joint will be presenting two special gourmet egg-periences: a one-day-only chef’s special, and a limited offering menu.

“It's been an absolutely incredible year in Singapore, with immense support from the community. We're so glad that many have embraced our passion for the humble egg, indulging in our over-the-top gourmet sandwiches with eggs in every form. Having opened during the pandemic, we missed an opportunity to go all-out for our launch and that's why we wanted to create something extra special for our first anniversary,” shares a spokesperson for Eggslut Singapore.

To kick off the celebration, Eggslut will be collaborating with chef Paul Longworth from one-Michelin-starred restaurant Rhubarb for a one-day-only exclusive menu.

Longworth is one of its many fans. “When I first tried their sandwiches and the signature Slut for the first time, I was blown away. So, when the opportunity came up to explore this collaboration … I jumped at the chance,” he shares.

Head down on September 4 and indulge in two delectable offerings: Rhubarb’s sandwich and popcorn mousse Slut.

The Rhubarb sandwich is Longworth’s take on the joint’s signature Fairfax sandwich, comprising layers of fluffy scrambled eggs, savoury beetroot-cured salmon trout, spiced horseradish cream, and tangy pickled red onion between buttery brioche buns.

“To me, the combination of salmon, eggs and horseradish cream are familiar and delicious flavours that sit perfectly in Eggslut’s fluffy, brioche buns,” shares Longworth.

When creating the popcorn mousse Slut, Longworth saw parallels between the joint’s speciality Slut and Rhubarb’s signature dish, Emulsion.

“Our signature, Emulsion, is something I've had on the menu for quite a long time. It's my interpretation of a soup so it’s not meant to be drunk but eaten. When I had the Slut for the first time, the parallels to me were immediate,” explains Longworth.

Taking inspiration from Emulsion, the comforting soup-like dish sees a perfectly slow-cooked egg atop earthy carrot pulp, smoky chorizo and buttery popcorn mousse. For an elevated experience, dip the thinly sliced baguette into the Slut. The result is an aromatic bite filled with toasty notes of popcorn mousse.

Apart from the joint’s collaboration with Longworth, gourmands can also look forward to two limited-time sandwiches.

Seafood lovers can look forward to the avocado and prawn sandwich, a luxurious sando that marries sweet buttery tiger prawns with earthy egg and creamy avocado. Those with a sweet tooth will not want to miss out on the panna cotta Slut, which is the Singapore joint’s first dessert designed to resemble a coddled egg. The treat is sweet, creamy, and citrusy, featuring a mango passionfruit sphere, and creamy vanilla and hazelnut panna cotta.

Limited-time offerings will be available from September 9 to October 31.
