From relaxed cafes to fine dining establishments, here are some of the best pet-friendly places that welcome both you and your pet

Apart from picnics, pet-friendly restaurants are probably the only way to enjoy an outside meal with one’s furry companions. Naturally, any pet owner will have a list of regular haunts. There’s no need to stick to just the familiar spots though—we’ve compiled a list of pet-friendly cafes and restaurants here that run the gamut from casual eateries to upmarket diners, so you’d be able to bring your pet along for any occasion.

A word of advice: it’s preferable to make reservations ahead of time at these spots, and you should let the staff know that you’ll be bringing pets while doing so. After all, menus and policies do change over time, and some establishments have limits on the number of pets that they can accommodate at any point.

Award-winning Three Buns Quayside welcomes 2023 with a plethora of sloppy, delicious burgers that will have you unabashedly licking your fingers. The Sambal Man, for instance, sees a Tasmanian vintage beef patty slathered with gochujang ketchup, house-made sambal, smoked applewood cheddar, Den Miso mayo and pickled onions for an intense spicy and umami punch. If not, look out for the chicken or lamb burgers, or even one of their plant-based burgers that are just as savoury and satisfying. It's the perfect brunch spot to spend after a walk along Robertson Quay with your dog.
