The school holidays have arrived and your kids can now take a short break from the constant demands of school, tuition centres and more. Make it worth their while by bonding over a delicious meal—after all, good food always brings people closer together.

From stalwarts to new additions to our dining scene, it is safe to say that you will never run out of good restaurants to discover in the Lion City. So get started with an array of pizzas, freshly baked pastries and more at these family-friendly dining places.

1. Wildseed Cafe at The Alkaff Mansion

Bring the whole family—even your fur kids—out for a hearty brunch at Wildseed Cafe at The Alkaff Mansion. Nestled on the hill of Telok Blangah and surrounded by lush flora and fauna, this floral cafe offers a hearty range of brunch favourites with a twist—think crisp chicken katsu waffle, creamy avocado ‘toast’ croffle and aromatic truffle carbonara. Its kids menu also offers a range of sweet and savoury dishes like the fluffy pancakes topped with berries and drizzled in maple syrup.

2. Wheeler’s Estate

Explore the Seletar neighbourhood with the little ones this week and find a wide range of things to do—from exploring the Seletar Aerospace Park to plane spotting. When you get hungry, stop by Wheeler’s Estate for a meal. There’s a wide range of dishes, including juicy Baharat roasted whole chicken, succulent pork jowl and fire-kissed portobello mushrooms. Treat the little ones to indulgent ice cream sandwiches while you’re here. These creamy creations come in various flavours including toasted marshmallows, vegan dark chocolate and pistachio.

3. Huber’s Bistro

Keep your kids busy at this bistro’s playground while you indulge in Swiss-German beer and food. Visit for dinner and dig into dishes like Berliner currywurst, comprising smoked pork sausages glazed in curry ketchup, and the open-faced roast beef sandwich topped with crisp onions, horseradish and salad. Steak lovers can revel in its steak menu, offering a range of cuts including flat iron, ribeye and wagyu sirloin. On the kids menu, you’ll find chicken schnitzel, hot dogs and tortellini. What’s more, dishes are prepared with produce obtained from Huber’s butchery, located next door.

4. The Assembly Ground

At The Assemble Ground, savour dishes like the beautifully grilled pork collar glazed in Nagano miso, beautifully pan-fried Norwegian salmon and grilled boneless chicken legs stuffed with black truffle paste. While kids can enjoy the Young Diners’ Menu, a set menu featuring a main, drink and dessert. Choose from hearty mains like the cheese mushroom pasta, deep-fried breaded chicken, and battered haddock fish and chips.

5. The Coastal Settlement

If your little ones enjoy being outdoors, why not take them out for a picnic this weekend at The Coastal Settlement? Opt for the Picnic-On-The-Go set, which comes with a table, mat, hand sanitiser and insect repellent. Top up with your choice of dishes from its a la carte brunch menu.

Choose from an array of mouth-watering dishes, including brunch staples like the juicy chicken and waffles, decadent Wagyu cheeseburger and avocado and eggs. Local staples are available too, such as Hokkien mee, nasi lemak and hor fun. The latter is elevated with tender Wagyu beef and fragrant truffle paste.

This all-day-breakfast spot is perfect for fussy eaters, or those with food intolerances as it has an extensive selection of dishes that address a host of dietary restrictions. Head down with the family and tuck into gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free plates. For instance, I Love NY is a gluten-free bagelwich loaded with creamy scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, caramelised onions and herb cream cheese. Those with a sweet tooth can go for the gluten-free and dairy-free Tahitian, fluffy coconut pancakes topped with coconut yoghurt, passionfruit syrup and fresh mangoes.

7. Tiong Bahru Bakery Safari

We’re sure the litte ones won’t mind waking up early on their school break if it means having breakfast at this safari-themed café in Dempsey. Make it worth their while with a feast of freshly baked pastries, among which are the warm and buttery croissants, flaky kouign amann and canelé. Savoury lovers will do well to order the brie and roasted mushroom croissant. A crowd favourite, it consists of melty brie and aromatic mushrooms enveloped within a warm, flaky croissant. 
 
Tatler Tip: On top of a 3,000-square-foot garden, the bakery also shares a playground with its sister brand Open Farm Community, where little ones can explore and play. It is also conveniently located close to the bakery, allowing parents to keep a watchful eye on their kids while dining.

Check out the all-day brunch menu which offers Australian-inspired fare such as the Manwich—a hearty sandwich with luscious layers of juicy roasted leg ham, truss tomatoes, avocado and cheddar cheese, embedded within sliced bread.
 
Other options are the herb-flavoured sourdough stacked with cream cheese and smoked salmon; and the bowl of brown rice topped with dukkah salmon. Want something healthier? Then give in to the refreshing acai berry bowl topped with peanut butter granola.

9. Bee’s Knees at The Garage

Planning a family meal which also includes your furry pets? You are more than welcome to dine at this kid- and pet-friendly oasis situated within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Savour a hearty meal of wonderfully pan-roasted salmon with couscous; braised cheek Bolognese; and smoked chicken mayo pizza. Ideal for sharing, the decadent pizza is topped with smoked chicken breast, leeks and mayonnaise.
 
A kid’s set is also available and consists of a choice of starter, main, juice and dessert. The set begins with a choice between French fries or soup of the day. For mains, you have the likes of creamy truffle carbonara, fish and chips, and juicy kids burger. Dessert is a difficult choice between chocolate cookies and chocolate mousse.

If you’re heading to Sentosa for a day out with the family, consider a meal at this family-friendly Italian restaurant located along Siloso beach. Tuck into hearty and authentic Italian fare by Italian chef Alessandro Delle Cave. Standouts include Cave’s signature Genovese pesto risotto, a creamy dish of Arborio rice and pesto topped with rich buffalo mozzarella cheese and green asparagus; and pizza Siciliana, a thin-crust, wood-fired pizza studded with traditional Sicilian pork sausages, salami, and roasted capsicums.
