The only international outpost of Kanazawa’s two-Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant finds its new home in Shaw Centre

Les Amis Group’s impressive stable of dining concepts at Shaw Centre is about to welcome another gastronomic mammoth, Zeniya Singapore. The sole international sibling of the revered two-Michelin-starred Zeniya Kanazawa in Japan has relocated from Shangri-La Singapore since it first opened in 2023. The new location, which is slated to open its doors on May 17, 2025, signifies more than just a change of address, but an affirmation that the acclaimed establishment is here to stay amid challenging times for Singapore’s dining scene.

The uninitiated might mistake kaiseki for dainty food arranged with tweezers. They would be wrong. At this fine-dining outpost, Kaga-style kaiseki is orchestrated by Shinichiro Takagi, the second-generation chef-owner of the Kanazawa flagship, which is highly regarded for a deft showcase of his hometown’s seasonal bounty. Every wanmori, yakimono and mukozuke, weaves between tradition and innovation, stringing together courses that eat as sophisticatedly as they appear.

Among the harmonious interplay of flavours, refined techniques, and aesthetic presentation, the most glorious is the signature grilled nodoguro (black-throat sea perch), which is silky and succulent, and melts instantly in the mouth to reveal delicate ocean flavours that linger on the palate.

In ensuring that the same impeccable standards are maintained, Takagi’s handpicked team includes head chef Shuji Yoshitaki, a seasoned chef with three decades of experience, most notably a decade spent training at the two-Michelin-starred Gion Maruyama in Kyoto; and sous chef Akinori Nakano, a young protégé who has flown under Takagi’s wing for five years.

As the crown jewel of Les Amis Group’s “Jin Collective”, a comprehensive suite of Japanese concepts spanning everything from casual tendon joints to revered omakase temples, Zeniya now serves as the pinnacle of the portfolio. While doors open May 17, reservations for the coveted spot are now live for lunch and dinner.
