1. Rum cake

Joyce Homemade Foods has been crafting her signature butter rum cake for us foodies to feast on since 1997, and she has failed to disappoint. Each boozy, soft, and rum-soaked slice is both simple and sophisticatedly sinful too. Pair your cake with a cup of coffee or tea, or for those more adventurous, a tipple of your choosing.

2. Crème brûlée cake

The Pastry Cart’s signature crème brûlée cake is a sugary delight that will turn heads at the dinner table. It's fluffy cake, and fine sweet cream is topped with a crisp caramelised sugar coating which gives every bite a welcomed crunchy crack. With a variety of textures, a balanced level of sweetness, and refined cake crumb consistency, this dessert is one that deserves to be tried.

3. Walnut-meringue cakes

Homemade by Roshan became famous for her cookies, but you better not miss out on her many incredible cakes. Aside from more classic flavours of vanilla, chocolate, lemon or carrot, opt for her walnut-meringue cakes. The Pink Rose for example contains a raspberry and lychee filling between layers of walnut meringue, coated in a delicate blush pink rose-scented cream. Their toffee nut latte cake has layers of roasted walnut meringue, caffè latte ganache, sticky toffee sauce, housemade toffee crunch, frosted with a toffee nut coffee whipped cream, and sprinkled with toffee bits. Her hibiscus orange torte brings you a sweet, tart and floral melange of flavours with three layers of roasted walnut meringue, finished with house-made candied orange peel. There's even more to choose from, so you are definitely spoilt for choice!

4. Buttercream icing

Marta's Cakes is not such a well-hidden secret, and has been a staple for those in the-know for many years now. Their iconic chocolate fudge cake and vanilla pound cakes are sought after for their undeniably moist and flavourful cake layers and addictively delicious sugary buttercream icing that keeps you coming back for yet another bite (or slice). Marta's Cakes specialises not only in making these top-notch no-frills (but expertly executed) cake flavours (that we keep coming back too) but also in customising creations exactly to your needs. Try out their cupcakes and cookies too!

5. Honey crunch cake

50 Shades of Dough bakes a delightfully airy, fluffy and moist sponge cake coated in a semi-sweet heavy cream icing and topped with crunchy honeycomb. In fact, it's so light and easy to eat that you will be challenged to limit yourself to only one slice. Delicate, simple and wonderfully made, this cake is a sure-fire crowd-pleaser. It is not too sweet or heavy, and makes for a wonderful sweet finish to any meal.

6. Blah Blah Black Forest

Hi Mama Pappot cake shop has a Black Forest cake that must be tried. Their Blah Blah Black Forest was interestingly inspired by a moment watching the Hotel Transylvania cartoon. This cake features cherries slowly cooked in Disaronno, mixed with roasted almonds and Belgian chocolate chunks, sandwiched in between two chocolate cake layers that are soaked overnight in three kinds of milk. The creation is then covered in almond chantilly cream and topped with cherries, almonds, Belgian chocolate, and dried edible flowers.

7. Classic burnt Basque cheesecake

Chef David Amoros of El Born in Mitsukoshi mall did not expect their cheesecake to become the wild hit that it is today. It has since become such a fan-favourite from their menu that the restaurant recently opened its own stand-alone cake shop called El Born Cheesecake. Here, you can take your pick from a variety of sizes, perfect for just you, or for the whole family. Glide your fork through this delicate and gorgeously silky-soft cake, and crack into its crunchy speculous crust to fully appreciate (and fall in love with) this creation.
