Husband and wife team, Chele and Teri Gonzalez, have launched a brand new passion project: Chef Chele's Kitchen.

This top chef, the man behind Gallery by Chele, has made his culinary creations even more personal and heartfelt with the introduction of his newest venture with the love of his life, Teri. Burnt Basque Cheesecakes made with passion are coming straight out of the couple’s home test kitchen with their new concept: Chef Chele’s Kitchen!

“I learned this recipe during the time I was living and working in the Basque country, specifically when I was in Arzak in San Sebastian. Over the years, I kept this recipe for very special occasions like baking for my wife Teri, family and friends,” shares chef Chele Gonzalez. He is opening up and sharing more of himself by allowing us to partake of a recipe that was previously only by his nearest and dearest.

In fact, this experience and dessert is one that is treasured by husband and wife. Chele tells us that he and Teri shared such special moments when baking together that they made it a regular and much looked forward to date activity. This inspired the couple to launch the business as their first joint project—“our first baby” chef says. “Chele works long hours at Gallery by Chele. So any time we have together is special for both of us. When we bake together it's more than just cooking, it’s a date. The love that we put into the Burnt Basque Cheesecake and the passion behind this recipe is our love story” Teri tells us with sincerity.

The burnt basque cheesecake (which seems to be an almost permanent fixture on our social media feeds), has gained a tremendous amount of popularity over recent years and more-so during the pandemic. There has been a rise in the number of bakers and cooks presenting their own creations. However, more often than not, they don’t get it right. With Chele's, you know you are in for a dangerously good treat.

Chele’s cheesecake sticks to its Basque origins. It has an intentionally burnt and bittersweet exterior, and luxuriously creamy, soft and delicate interior. “Seventy-five per cent of our cheesecake recipe is cheese. All our ingredients are of the best quality,” says Chele.

Chef Chele’s Kitchen’s cheesecakes are always baked to order daily so quality is guaranteed. We recommend that you dig-in as soon as you receive your cake so that you can enjoy it the way it was meant to be: fresh!  “An important characteristic of our cheesecake is its creamy, magical texture. Storing our cheesecakes in chillers would make them lose that magic,” Chele explains.

From knowing these two personally, I can confidently that they are putting their all into this project and that you will not be disappointed with what you get. With Chele's culinary mastery and Teri's know-how of the hospitality industry (she spent 16 years with Shangri-La Hotels), this duo has refined their skills and is ready to take on the road ahead.
