Cover The Glendronach whisky tasting session for CMC Alpha members

For one night only, whisky lovers from CMC Alpha sampled the core expressions from storied Scotch whisky brand The Glendronach, in an intimate whisky tasting at COMO Metropolitan Singapore’s Sky Bar

CMC Alpha members recently gathered at the COMO Metropolitan Singapore’s Sky Bar for an exclusive whisky appreciation night, featuring The Glendronach’s finest single malt expressions: the 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old and the Parliament 21 Year Old.

Amidst the backdrop of the Orchard skyline and the setting sun, guests first caught up over indulgent canapés crafted by the COMO Cuisine team, as well as unlimited servings of Spanish Highball concocted by the resident mixologist during the cocktail reception.

As CMC Alpha guests settled at their seats, The Glendronach brand representative Donald Teng welcomed them to the special session which deep-dived into the whisky brand’s rich heritage, core expressions and mastery of the sherry cask maturation process. The 12 Year Old was a good introduction to the brand’s richly sherried style; matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, it had an enticing golden amber hue as well as rich notes of sherry, ripe fruits and gentle spices.

Moving on to the 15 Year Old, which was also aged in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks for a longer period, the CMC Alpha members enjoyed its intoxicating aromas of maraschino cherry, orange bitters and orange liqueur, and luscious taste reminiscent of honey-glazed apricot, ripe fig and muscovado sugar.

Teng ended the night with the Parliament 21 Year Old, crowned the World’s Best Highland Single Malt Whisky at the 2018 World Whisky Awards. The guests understood why it was given such accolade upon the first sip—matured in the finest sherry casks for over two decades, this expression had the elegance and complex layers of chocolate, dried fruits, and subtle spice. The finish was long and lingered well after the tasting session concluded for the evening
