Sake enthusiasts of CMC Alpha were exclusively invited to discover sensational signature expressions of Dassai sake
A select group of sake enthusiasts gathered at Tatler House for a special evening of Japan’s most coveted sakes. This crème de la crème of sake soirées, hosted in partnership with CMC Alpha and Tatler Singapore, is part of efforts to blend financial acumen with exclusive luxury lifestyle experiences.
As the sun slowly faded in the background, guests were welcomed by Tatler Singapore’s assistant dining editor Dawson Tan to kick off the spirited evening affair. With the eponymous phantasm of Dassai sakes, anticipation was in the air.

Enter stage left: Leopoldo Puzielli, the international brand advocacy manager for Dassai who is armed to the teeth with a wealth of sake knowledge despite his foreign heritage. Guests eagerly engaged with Puzielli, as he narrated the sake brewing processes with ease and answered the inquisitive without breaking a sweat. And, of course, for the uninitiated, Dassai is no run-of-the-mill sake either.

Now, let’s talk booze. The Dassai 45 teased a taste of what was to come later on with an approachable bouquet of white flowers, apples and a hint of melon. It was followed by the Dassai 39, which drinks creamier, beautifully savoury and subtly vegetal. There was also a showing of the Dassai 45 sparkling, brandishing a fascinating bottle fermentation technique similar to champagne.
Then, there was the crowd-pleasing Dassai 23, which drinks smooth as silk, and bursts with a complex yet alluring minerality. The fruity expression puts forth distinct muscat grape and cantaloupe expressions, delighting all.

Guests were also invited to graze on delectable canapés, designed to be paired with the exquisite sakes. From a richly tender Wagyu beef tataki and spiced tuna somen to a lusciously bright yuzu cheesecake and stylish hazelnut bonbons for sweet endings, there were enough spoils to be shared over quality conversations that flowed as freely as the Dassai sakes.
As the evening concluded, not only did the networking nirvana stimulate lasting bonds between guests, but it also sparked a newfound appreciation for the finer points of fermented rice.
