This foodie extravaganza is back for its fourth edition, and its exciting events line-up is filled with workshops, masterclasses and hearty vegan fare
Eating is Singaporeans’ favourite pastime, so it’s no surprise that once the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted, signature food festivals started popping up across the island. The latest one is the Vegan Food Festival, which is back for its fourth edition from August 27 to September 4.
No surprises here, but the food festival is all about celebrating sustainable and healthy food options such as plant-based meats, which have become more popular over the last two years. As Pooja Bakhshi, the founder and director of the Singapore Vegan Festival explains, the festival was created to bond a community with a common interest in the plant-based food scene.
From masterclasses, interactive workshops to a vegan market offering unique vegan food and drinks experiences—there are plenty of activities for all food lovers. That said, here are five reasons you should check out the festival.

1. Food Village

Above Kombynation
This year’s festival presents an extensive vegan food village, located at Raffles City Convention Centre. Satisfy your bellies and dig into tantalising plates from various eateries, including vegan restaurant Planty of Love, sandwich cafe Ahimsa Café, and low carb dessert joint Locaba. Don’t miss out on Northern Indian restaurant Shahi Maharani’s jackfruit dum biryani, a hearty bowl that replaces meat with juicy jackfruit. Then, save room for dessert and indulge in Locaba’s decadent dark chocolate raspberry cake.
Once your stomach is filled, head to the vegan market, located next to the food village, and stock up on your favourite local plant-based brands, such as local plant-based milk brand Oatside, local wholefoods vegan bakery The Clean Addicts, and Pure the Winery. The latter is an Italian brand that offers tasteful wine crafted with zero sugar.
