Catch up with loved ones over a hearty meal at these new cafes and eateries this month

This month, we see various new dining concepts sprouting up across the island and there’s much to be excited about. For one, Yeast Side has made its way to the east, offering its signature sourdough and mouthwatering pizzas. While westies can take a trip to Lola’s latest outlet along Holland Village and revel in its hearty brunch fare. For flavours closer to home, head to Nic & Tom Eatery along Chinatown and savour bowls of its highly raved abalone cheese bee hoon.

1. Lola’s Café

Westies will no longer need to travel to Kovan to enjoy Lola’s hearty brunch fare, as the café has opened its second outlet along Holland Village. Keep your eyes out for its signature dishes, including the pulled pork & avocado eggs benedict. One of the café’s most popular brunch items, the dish sees fluffy sourdough topped with layers of smashed avocado, poached eggs, hollandaise and Chipotle pulled pork that has been smoked until fork tender. On top of favourites, look forward to outlet-exclusive creations, like the spicy crab rigatoni, featuring al dente rigatoni tossed in a creamy and spicy tomato sauce. 2. Yeast Side

This popular café-bar has made its way to the east side, opening its second outlet along Farrer Park. On top of serving up various sourdough bread, including seeded, honey spelt, and country, look forward to hearty sourdough pizzas like the Hold My Salami and Jambalaya. The former is a meat-filled pizza layered with tzatziki sauce, spicy salami, beef sausage and house-made tomato sauce. The latter is inspired by the Cajun dish of the same name and is topped with juicy shrimp, capsicum, chorizo, onion, and fiery house-made Cajun tomato sauce. Complement the slices with a side of rich mac and cheese, complete with crab stick and umami-filled mentaiko sauce. Book here

3. Naga House

This Japanese-inspired café has opened its doors along Circular Road. Here, the menu boasts classic Japanese café fare, including hearty egg sandos and umami-filled rice bowls. Visit during lunch and dig into the flank steak gohan bowl, a comforting bowl that sees fluffy Japanese rice tossed with tamago and fragrantly roasted garlic chips. It’s crowned with tender flank steak slices. Wash it down with a glass of refreshing lychee oolong tea kombucha or a citrus-filled cup of yuzu sencha. Book here

4. The Apricus Coffee & Food Co.

The group behind the beloved Populus Café has opened its latest concept, The Apricus Coffee & Food Co., along Sengkang. The Australian-inspired café boasts an extensive menu featuring comforting brunch favourites. Meat lovers can go for the spring pancake & fried chicken, the café’s interpretation of classic chicken and waffles comprising fragrant spring onion and corn pancake crowned with juicy chicken thigh fried until gorgeously golden brown. If you prefer something on the sweeter side, opt for the French toast, complete with homemade maple granola, seasonal berries and cereal crumbs.

5. Nic & Tom Eatery

This eatery has reopened along Chinatown, offerings the same innovative dishes we have grown to love. Head down and indulge in its signatures like the abalone cheese beehoon, comprising springy beehoon, fresh prawns, scallops and succulent abalone bathed in a rich and cheesy broth. Other standouts include the Nic & Tom sesame buns which see fluffy buns deep fried until golden brown and filled with juicy stir-fried pork belly; and fresh Saudi Arabia prawns dipped in homemade wasabi.
