1. Chang Thai

Location: Legazpi Village, Makati

Regulars at the Salcedo Saturday Market and Legazpi Sunday Market are thoroughly familiar with chef Aof Suwannalert’s authentic Thai cuisine, from rich and vibrant curries to delectable mango with pandan sticky rice. Now, Chang Thai has expanded with its first brick-and-mortar restaurant at 108 Benavidez St, Legazpi Village.

2. Wine Drop Shop (Makati)

Location: Chino Roces Extension, Makati City

Following the success of its first outlet at Greenhills, Wine Drop—the approachable, consumer-facing arm of top wine distributor AWC—has opened its second shop, now in Makati. Pop in to taste their extensive and thoughtfully-curated selection of wines and follow them on Instagram to stay in the loop for some fun tasting promotions and events.

3. Terraza Martinez

Location: The Arcade at Shangri-La the Fort, Manila, BGC

Renowned internationally for its great surf, Siargao island has slowly but surely grown to be a dining destination in its own right. Prior to its closure late last year, Alma Siargao was among the top restaurants on every foodie’s bucket list, known for exquisite Spanish fare. Luckily for us city-dwellers, Alma’s chef Luis Martinez now has his own restaurant here in Metro Manila, Terraza Martinez.

4. Nikkei Robata (Newport Mall)

Location: Newport Mall, Pasay City

Not five months since the opening of its first branch at Uptown Ritz, BGC, Nikkei Robata welcomes guests to its second location at Newport Mall. Unlike its sister concepts Nikkei and Nikkei Nama Bar, this new concept specialises in grilled Japanese specialities including a variety of kushiyaki, a delectable salmon belly with mushroom risotto, and the must-try scallops with uni sauce.

5. China Mommy

Location: The Grid Food Market, Power Plant Mall, Makati City

Tuck into fresh lumpia, lu rou fan, maki mi, and other Chinese-Filipino and Taiwanese specialities at China Mommy, the newest addition to the upscale food hall The Grid Food Market. Previously online-only, operating as an Instagram-based brand, China Mommy will be at The Grid until the 31st of December at Stall 16.

6. Finestra: Josh Boutwood x Hylton Le Roux

Location: Solaire Resort & Casino, Parañaque City

This November, chef Josh Boutwood joins forces with Solaire’s executive sous chef Hylton Le Roux at Finestra Italian Steakhouse to present an exciting 4-hands dinner, celebrating the versatility of cacao and Auro Chocolate. “We want guests to really experience a new way of looking at chocolate through a delicious experience,” Boutwood shares, introducing the seven-course menu. From raw tuna dusted with cocoa powder to a coca butter-poached seabass and a dry-aged duck breast with chocolate sauce, the innovative degustation underscores the many delicious uses of cacao. “It’s not just chocolate, it doesn’t always have to be sweet,” Le Roux explains, “there are other aspects of the cocoa that we can use.”

7. Metronome: Bistro Lunch Menu

Location: Legazpi Village, Makati City

Allow chef Miko Calo to take you to the streets of Paris with Metronome’s newly-launched bistro lunch menu: a lean but diverse selection of perfectly executed French staples including ratatouille, duck confit and steak frites, each served with your choice of soup or salad and dessert. While the meal is far more quick and casual than their typical degustation, the Metronome bistro lunch is far from rushed—rather, it invites you to take a rather and leisurely enjoy a blissful, decadent meal.

8. Din Tai Fung: Exclusive Private Room Menu

Location: Mall of Asia, Pasay City

Din Tai Fung, the international Taiwanese restaurant acclaimed for its delicious dim sum, has recently opened three private dining rooms (for 8 to 16 patrons) at their Mall of Asia branch designed specifically for a premium dining experience. By booking the private room, diners can avail of the restaurant’s exclusive private dining room menu, which includes dishes like rock lobster in shao xing with leeks and vermicelli, razor clams in ginger sauce, and black pepper beef with foie gras.

Fans of their iconic xiao long bao are in for a treat as well with their special tasting menu of the dumpling in premium flavours: truffle and pork, uni and pork, and foie gras and chicken are just some of the variations featured in the basket. Plus, the menu even includes premium wines and whiskies to complete the meal.

After an extended hiatus, Van Gogh is Bipolar has opened slots for exclusive reservations. First established in 2009, the quirky yet cosy Maginhawa restaurant is known for dishes rich in mood-boosting nutrients, owned and operated by chef Jetro vin Rafael, who is a staunch advocate for food as medicine; Rafael himself has bipolar disorder, while his life partner lives with colon cancer.

10. The Lost Cow Chophouse

Location: Amorita Resort, Panglao Island, Bohol

Amorita Resort has attracted both beach lovers and foodies alike with its pop-up series, BEats (Bohol Eats), hosting the likes of Josh Boutwood, Margarita Forés, and Jordy Navarra for one-night-only degustations. Thus, the opening of its new restaurant, The Lost Cow Chophouse was rightfully highly anticipated. Now in its soft opening, the restaurant offers classic steakhouse fare like prime steaks and lamp chops fresh off the grill, as well as crispy beer-brined pork knuckles and a comforting chicken pot pie.

11. Shaka (Salcedo)

Location: Salcedo Village, Makati

Known for delicious vegan-friendly dishes anyone can enjoy, Siargao’s humble Shaka café has rapidly expanded throughout the country. Swing by their newly-opened Salcedo Village branch to dig into their plant-based picks, from their famed smoothie bowls to crave-worthy burgers and all-day breakfast favourites.

12. Power Plant Mall: Ala Eh! A Batangas Food Fair & Namit Namit Food Festival

Location: Power Plant Mall, Makati City

Rockwell is gearing up to host two-weekend food markets at Power Plant Mall, kicking of with Ala Eh! A Batangas Food Fair this October 22 to 23. Beyond native delicacies from the neighbouring province, the fair will also feature celebrated artisans like Ijo Viennoiserie, their patisserie Uniqo Pâtisserie, and Pinkie’s Farm.

Location: Cubao, Quezon City

Much remains to be revealed about Modan, chef Jorge Mendez’s progressive Japanese restaurant. But if the early glimpses of are any indication of what’s in store, the 12-seater concept will certainly be among the most exciting openings of the year. Its premiere menu is choc-full of unconventional dishes that heavily draw from Japanese techniques and flavours, resulting in creations like tendon tempura and desserts cleverly seasoned with ikura.
