This fine dining restaurant dazzles from first sight. The eyes definitely feast before the palate, but both live up to meet the highest of standards. 70km away from Manila you will meet Asador Alfonso, an architectural feat by co-owner and architect Carlo Calma. The property is inspired by Taal Volcano and is nestled within The Lava Rock, a 9.4-hectare family project of the Calma family. 

At Asador Alfonso, diners will be introduced to a restaurant with a refined and exquisite expression of Spanish fine dining fare, where stunning produce and expert cookery take centre stage. The menu is produce-driven, focused on the simplicity of excellent ingredients, and pays special attention to precise cookery and technique. Here, chef Rodrigo Osario takes the lead, showcasing how the power and beauty of simplicity.

Make your way up Hapag's wooden stairs to find the jewel-box restaurant, Ayà. This stunning skylit, glass-box lounge-cum-restaurant is decked out with plush lounge seating and an outdoor terrace that is crafted to make your dining experiences stand out from memory. From food, to design, no detail went untouched. Here, chefs Thirdy Dolatre and John Kevin Navoa share an à la carte menu for both lunch and dinner that displays an array of Filipino dishes embodying the same innovative flair you have come to love from the team at Hapag.

Gallery by Chele (Tatler Best Asia 100) is known for experimenting with Filipino produce to showcase bold dishes with global influences. Menu after menu, the team challenges culinary norms; their latest tasting menu dives into the nuances of the cacao fruit, each dish taking inspiration from its farming and production process, plus its many byproducts. Reserve a table for a meal that will surely impress your date. White tablecloths, a bustling open kitchen, and attentive servers all play a part in rounding out your experience. In fact, the ambience is just as striking as the dishes, with textured wooden walls, discretely angled pin lighting, and a chic playlist that is DJ Chele-approved.

Goxo is a brand new (and hidden) restaurant that opened its doors in Salcedo Village. Tucked away, a few steps from Bar Pintxos on L.P Leviste, you will find this 12-seater asador concept that blends Basque cuisine with global flavours. The team describes Goxo as a bar-asador, a chef's table experience complemented by an array of wonderful fine wines from Boca Juan (a wine company run by its founders). Here, diners will feast on chef Albert Mendoza's interpretation of Basque cuisine, while bathed in beautiful flamenco-style music, surrounded by warm red walls and dim lighting, and seated on plush rattan chairs.

At Helm by chef Josh Boutwood, he marries flavours and techniques from all over the world, spotlighting stellar produce. Its home at Ayala Triangle Gardens elevates the experience, with its sleek, minimalist design framing the chef’s whimsical artistry. Stepping into the sleek, minimalist space of black, copper, and gray, your eyes are immediately drawn to the open kitchen: the stage and centre of all the action. Two rows of four (the best seats in the house) directly face the kitchen, granting you a full view of the show, while plates are finished mere inches away from you on the shared countertop. The lighting is dim, and intentionally so, allowing the pin spot lighting to foreground each dish with dramatic flair.

Chef Bruce Ricketts's sushi kappo, Iai, is an ideal date night location; a great choice to not only to pamper the palate but all the senses too. The space's stunning interior design, hand-picked scents, funky music, and attentive hospitality have been so fine-tuned and finessed that each diner feels at ease and soothed. Here, guests can experience a sushi omakase at the chef’s counter, where you will have a front-row seat to all the action and can speak directly with Ricketts. With this chef's table you can expect unintrusive service, giving all diners privacy and space. Alternatively, you can also choose the kappo omakase meal at their dining tables. “The sushi omakase is the main offering at Iai, with 12 to 14 courses of seasonal Japanese, Filipino, and global ingredients. We serve this behind the counter and in the private dining room. The kappo omakase is a shorter tasting menu of five courses, without nigiri, that guests can enjoy on a more casual level,” he shares.
