Spurred by an enquiry to our dining editor, we've been on the hunt for lobster-based dishes in the area

Succulent and sweet, lobster has a reputation for being one of the most luxurious meats on the market, and for good reason too—few things compare to the shellfish's delicate yet flavourful flesh. Ranging from Lobster Tagliatelle at The Brasserie to Lobster Thermidor at Bistro à Table, these eight decadent lobster dishes in the Klang Valley are worth picking off one by one.

1. Lobster Tagliatelle at The Brasserie, The St Regis Kuala Lumpur

The Brasserie's team prides themselves on serving fresh seasonal produce with a French-Mediterranean twist. Take, for instance, the signature Lobster Tagliatelle that combines homemade pasta, Boston lobster and coral sauce. If pasta isn’t to your fancy, try the Grilled Whole Boston Lobster with butter-enriched tarragon sauce. You might remember that The Brasserie was crowned one of Tatler Dining’s Top 20 Restaurants in 2021.

 

2. Oven Baked Half Canadian Lobster at Skillet At 163

Also featured in Tatler Dining’s Best Restaurants Guide 2021, Skillet At 163 serves Oven Baked Half Canadian Lobster as part of their Spring/Summer Discovery Menu. The dish is paired with potato dauphinoise and a side of locally grown kale.

3. Lobster Thermidor at Bistro à Table

Headed by Chef Isadora Chai, modern French establishment Bistro à Table has been around since 2011. In addition to Lobster with Cognac Veloute Spaghettini, the restaurant also offers a classic Lobster Thermidor flavoured with mustard and lobster coral, and finished with grilled gruyère.

4. Lobster Tail at Enfin by James Won

Priding themselves on their use of locally sourced and grown produce, Enfin by James Won serves up a lobster dish like no other as part of their three- and five-course dégustation. Charred in Wagyu fat, the Lobster Tail is served with components such as salted duck egg, lemon crème fraîche and lobster bisque risotto.

5. Lobster Wasabi Pepper at Nobu Kuala Lumpur

If you haven’t already heard, Nobu Kuala Lumpur has moved to a new home in the Four Seasons Place. The establishment's new menu sees two hot dishes starring lobster: the Lobster Wasabi Pepper and the Lobster Creamy Jalapeño.

6. Live Boston Lobster at Marble 8

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Marble 8 is best known for dry-aged steaks. For this reason, many may not realise that they also offer Live Boston Lobster, which can be cooked in the gratin style or grilled and served with spaghetti aglio olio.

7. Lobster Taglierini at Horizon Grill @ Banyan Tree

Located on the 58th floor of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur is Horizon Grill, a swanky grill with its own rooftop terrace and bird's eye views of Kuala Lumpur's skyline. Try the luscious Lobster Taglierini, which can be prepared in the arabiatta (tomato-based) or aglio olio (olive oil forward) style, or the Boston Lobster that comes with roasted cocktail potatoes.

8. Butter Poached Lobster at Prime, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur

Another establishment famed for Australian and Japanese beef, Prime also offers two exquisite lobster dishes. Dig your spoon into the crispy pastry crust that sits atop Prime's Baked Lobster Bisque, or try the Butter Poached Lobster with Rainbow Tomatoes and Sweet Basil.
