ICYMI: 5 Foodie Finds: Insomniacks' Wan Arif Iskandar's Favourite Date Night Spots

1. Momotalo Yakiniku

"Momotalo Yakiniku is my favourite spot to go to with my BFFs. I don't really enjoy eating red meat but I make it an exception at Momotalo Yakiniku. It's probably because the beef is so tender and juicy here. Just thinking about it is making me hungry already.

My favourites here would be the harami (skirt steak), miso soup, garlic fried rice, enoki mushrooms, and most importantly, the dipping sauce. It is the sauce that makes the meal and I swear it makes the meat 10 times more delicious! It's also reasonably priced so I really couldn't recommend this enough."

2. Restoran Sri Nirwana Maju, Bangsar

"If you live in KL, it's almost impossible not to know this famous banana leaf restaurant opposite Bangsar Village II. It is my go-to whenever I crave good curry. I've never been disappointed here. My top choices on the menu are sotong goreng and chicken masala. Hands down the best banana leaf spot in town!"

3. Warung Leko

"I can say with full confidence that Indonesian food is my comfort food. I can it any time of the day—for breakfast, brunch, tea, or dinner. The spice levels and seasonings are unmatched at Warung Leko.

My favourite dishes are fried enoki mushrooms and empal penyet (sweet and spicy fried beef slices). And the sambal is insanely good."

4. Super Saigon

"Super Saigon is the first place that I think of when I want something hot and soupy on a rainy day. The pho broth is so soothing and satisfying.

I usually order the shredded chicken pho, fresh rice paper rolls with lemongrass chicken and tiger prawns as well as the minced chicken crispy spring rolls."

5. Hokkaido Seafood

"This place is truly the best seafood restaurant I've been to. I'm a big fan of seafood, especially when it comes to shellfish, and I've been coming here for nearly 10 years now—since I was 16, in fact.

I can't get enough of its chilli crab and butter prawns,. It's very local and the ambiance really isn't fancy but aren't these the best kind of places sometimes?"
