Some of these spicy dishes give off a slow sear while others cause profound perspiration. Pour yourself a tall glass of cold milk after

1. Spicy Mala Soup @ Fei Fan Hotpot

"Nothing says spicy like Sichuanese cuisine. I’ve tried the spicy mala soup at a few hot pot places, but Fei Fan's is my favourite. The soup may be too oily for some, but the calories are worth the addictive sizzle. For your information, I frequent the Mont Kiara branch."

2. Chicken Rendang @ Ah Cheng Laksa

"I’m not really into spicy dishes, as I can’t take too much heat (if you’re looking for bobba tea recommendations, however, I’m your gal!) But if I had to choose, I’d probably go with Ah Cheng Laksa's chicken rendang. The spiciness doesn't come full on, but is the type that lingers. One time at McDonald's, I had no choice but to get the Ayam Goreng 3X spicy chicken, which I couldn’t finish, as the heat was unbearable."

3. Chilli Cheesecake @ Joloko

"Dessert is probably the last thing one thinks of when asked to name a 'spicy' dish, but Joloko's Chilli Cheesecake has carved a name for itself in the pantheon of prominent sweets. Dyed a pumpkin pie orange, the post-dinner and pre-drinks dessert is the brainchild of Chef Timothy Jay, who used to spearhead The Cheesecake Factory's operations in Dubai."

"My favourite chilli pan mee is Super Kitchen’s. Even after my friends and I adjust the level of heat, the dish still bring tears to my eyes. That and McDonald's 3X spicy chicken. While I could stomach two pieces while drunk, I woke up with a tummy ache. I tried a piece one more time while sober and didn't experience any problems."

"There are few family feasts I look forward to as much as I do dinner at Awet. The restaurant's cheery tropical-themed decor and spacious indoor-outdoor seating is perfect for big groups (and elderly relatives on wheelchairs). The Thai-style coconut seafood otak-otak and tom yum water prawns are long-running favourites if you're craving a spicy-sour kick. The restaurant is always crowded after 7pm, so be sure to book a table at least a day in advance, especially on weekends."
