The K-pop girl group is making their long-awaited comeback with an album release in September—here’s what we know
Get ready for the biggest K-pop comeback of the year: Blackpink will drop a new album in September, two years after their 2020 release, The Album.
The upcoming album, titled Born Pink, was teased in a video trailer shared over the weekend. It featured an upbeat instrumental track that had all the makings of a hit, with a sound similar to the K-pop girl group’s previous chart-topping singles like Boombayah and Kill This Love.
Back in July, Blackpink’s record label YG Entertainment described the new music as “Blackpink-esque”, sharing that Born Pink was “completed with much effort over a long period of time.”
Fans can expect to get the first taste of Blackpink’s new era in August, when the first single from Born Pink will be released.

Born Pink will mark Blackpink’s second full-length album, following The Album (2020). During the girl group’s two-year hiatus, members Lisa, Jisoo, Rosé and Jennie focused on their solo projects. In March 2021, Rosé made history with her debut single album R, which became the bestselling single album by a South Korean female solo artist in chart history at the time—a record broken by Lisa a few months later with her music release, Lalisa.
Besides pursuing music projects, the members of Blackpink also attended fashion shows and fronted ad campaigns, as part of their roles as ambassadors to luxury fashion and jewellery brands like Chanel (in the case of Jennie), Dior and Cartier (Jisoo), Celine and Bulgari (Lisa), Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co (Rosé). Jisoo also ventured into acting with her first leading role in the series Snowdrop, which ranked first on Disney+ in several countries after it launched.

With Blackpink back together in full force, you can expect the months ahead to be busy for the girl group.
Besides the release of their album, Blackpink will also embark on a world tour in October, according to a statement from YG Entertainment.
“In order to expand Blackpink’s emotional connection with fans all over the world, they will set out for the largest-scale world tour in K-pop girl group history until the end of the year along with their comeback,” said the company. “Furthermore, big projects fitting of that status will continuously follow.”
Until the release Born Pink, Blinks can continue to stream Ready For Love, the K-pop quartet’s latest music video that was unveiled as part of a collaboration with PUBG. In it, members Lisa, Jisoo, Rosé and Jennie are rendered as virtual avatars like characters from the popular mobile video game.
