Cover Inside Jil Sander Paragon, Tatler’s resident fashion monster Adriel Chiun leads a masterclass in restraint—guiding guests through SS26’s refined silhouettes and softened structures

At Jil Sander’s Paragon boutique, Tatler hosts an intimate styling workshop unpacking the SS26 collection—where precision tailoring, lighter fabrics and Simone Bellotti’s vision of modern minimalism take centre stage

At the Jil Sander boutique in Paragon, Tatler Singapore’s community of clients and friends of the house for an intimate styling workshop that was equal parts masterclass and meditation on modern minimalism. The session opened with a reflection on the brand’s origins—founded in 1968 in Hamburg by Jil Sander, whose radical commitment to purity, precision tailoring and intellectual restraint would go on to redefine the language of luxury. By the 1990s, the house had emerged as a global force, offering a disciplined alternative to fashion’s excess, while Raf Simons’ tenure from 2005 to 2012 introduced a softer, more emotional dimension to that rigour. Today, under the direction of Simone Bellotti, the conversation returns to first principles—purity, essence and austerity—not as nostalgia, but as a way of being.

Framed through the lens of the SS26 collection, Tatler Singapore’s senior branded content and style editor Adriel Chiun distilled Bellotti’s vision into a compelling proposition: refinement and recalibration. Silhouettes have shifted away from the oversized towards something more precise and intentional, with clothes that sit closer to the body and articulate a new kind of quiet confidence. Fabrics, too, tell a story—softer cottons, lighter jerseys, more fluid denim—designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. Guests were encouraged to experience the tactility that underpins the collection’s evolution. It is, at its core, a wardrobe shaped by listening—built on client feedback, with a renewed emphasis on occasion dressing, day-to-night versatility and, crucially, ease.

Across the boutique, rails revealed a wardrobe that moves seamlessly between elevated office wear and understated evening pieces, each grounded in the house’s signature clarity. Footwear has been refined for lightness and wearability, while leather goods—particularly men’s backpacks—signal a growing focus beyond ready-to-wear. Chiun guided guests through the season’s key style stories: relaxed plaid separates that channel an effortless city energy; technical fabrics that introduce a subtle athletic edge; sharply structured denim that reimagines workwear codes; and striped wool-linen blends that offer a modern take on retro ease.

Central to the workshop was the notion of protection—a recurring motif in Bellotti’s work. Drawing from Hamburg’s industrial landscape and the symbolism of armour, garments take on a sculptural quality, with body-wrapping silhouettes, narrower shoulders and cropped proportions that create tension and control. Yet this strength is deliberately interrupted: slits and delicate fabrications reveal flashes of skin, introducing a dialogue between concealment and exposure, rigidity and softness.

Colour, too, plays its part. Black recedes in favour of deep, inky blues, while a palette of stone, fog and champagne is punctuated by moments of candy pink and sea blue. Florals soften the collection’s stricter lines, and layering—sometimes real, sometimes illusionary—adds depth without compromising the brand’s minimalist ethos. For Chiun, the takeaway was clear: precision over volume, structure tempered by softness, and an understanding that true luxury lies in the integrity of fit and fabric.
