Your guide to dressing like the most unconventional and eccentric sign in astrology
Often fascinated by the future, technology, outer space and New Age concepts, you could say that Aquarius people are pretty interesting. Born under the 11th sign in the zodiac—that’s right between rigid Capricorn and dreamy Pisces—these folks are meant to challenge humanity’s conventions and rules. An Aquarius’ rebellious streak may be fuelled by their pursuit of progress or their unchecked God complex, but it doesn’t matter: that same streak makes them some of the most unique fashion icons around.
That much is true with Aquarius celebrities like Harry Styles and Paris Hilton, both known for their unconventional style choices that sometimes spark new trends. Even a K-pop star like Rosé from Blackpink has surprised us with her quirky outfits. If you’re looking to stand out in a crowd, an Aquarius star’s wardrobe would offer plenty of ways to do so. And while these highly individualistic types hate boxes, labels and rules, we’ve gone ahead and put together a guide to dressing just like one. Read on below.

Embrace gender-fluid fashion

Aquarius folks are among the most non-confirming people you’ll come across, and that can translate into their gender-bending style. Case in point: Harry Styles. The Brit rockstar loves his suits just as much as he loves his sequins, florals, pearls and dresses. The one thing he doesn’t care for? Rules. Styles gets his clothes from both the men’s and women’s sections at Gucci, which is an approach we should all adopt when it comes to shopping. After all, fashion is experimentation.

Wacky prints and unexpected styling decisions are an Aquarius’ forté. That applies even to Blackpink’s Rosé, whose wardrobe largely consists of classic and feminine pieces that align with Saint Laurent’s Parisian chic aesthetic. When not on the stage or the red carpet, the K-pop star sometimes ditches her all-black outfits and embraces her eccentric side. That includes pairing jeans with her dress, or combining a Minion yellow hoodie with blue denim shorts. Everything goes.
Work a little blue

Blue is the Aquarius’ signature hue. Just ask Jennifer Aniston, a Hollywood star born under the sign of the water bearer. The Friends actress makes her love for blue denim abundantly clear through her laid-back street style looks. For red carpet events, Aniston often goes blue, too. At the premieres of both her films Life of Crime and Marley & Me, she showed up in stone blue gowns—Vivienne Westwood for the former, and Burberry for the latter.

Aquarius people fancy themselves the intellectuals of the zodiac. You would know this if you ever had a conversation with one, or if you saw one dressed like Elizabeth Olsen. Undoubtedly inspired by her twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley, the Marvel actress prefers pantsuits over dresses on the red carpet. Even for her casual street style looks, Olsen often throws on a blazer like a college professor. But perhaps nothing conveys sophistication and intelligence better than her choice of tote bags, proudly purchased from her favourite literary magazine and beloved bookstores.
Dress like you’re from the future (or another planet)

Perhaps nobody has described the unique Aquarius dilemma better than Paris Hilton, who once tweeted: “Too alien for Earth, too human for outer space.” While you may associate the heiress’s style with sequin party dresses, Barbie pink outfits and Juicy Couture tracksuits, it’s worth noting that the star of The Simple Life occasionally switches on her alien mode, too. See her futuristic looks for the Burning Man festival in 2022, which included a reflective, rainbow-coloured catsuit, a chainmail minidress, and oversized goggles with iridium lenses.
