Four months after Tatler's Christmas Ball raised a total of RM179,133, the funds have gone a long way to help communities in Sabah and other deserving NGOs

In spite of its challenges, 2021 also revealed the depth of our courage, generosity and determination to help those in need. This spirit of giving shone brighter than ever at Tatler's Christmas Ball in December 2021.

The guests were invited to donate to Tatler Malaysia's Give.Asia crowdfunding campaign throughout the night to raise funds for 250 children and their families in Sabah in partnership with the Bantu Heroes Sabah charity collective.

Kicking off this initiative with a bang, Pavilion Collection donated RM10,000, the first of many contributions to support Bantu Heroes Sabah's distribution of food and medical aid to underserved communities.

This Give.Asia fund raised a total of RM89,033 from 38 generous donors.

Together with two on-the-ground partners in Kota Kinabalu, the Sabah Food Aid Program was created to meet the needs of Sabahan communities. The programme is spearheaded by Datuk Dr Hartini Zainuddin, director and co-founder of ZeroHunger.

The raised funds were distributed to several communities in need including schoolchildren who were provided food and stationary sets via the Back to School programme.

The two schools that benefited were SMK Pekan Telipok and SK Pekan Telipok; overall, the programme helped fulfil 280 schoolchildren’s needs.

A cash transfer programme was also implemented for direct action, supporting 204 households with 1,735 people and their dependents. The funds were distributed to B40 and stateless communities across four towns and 84 villages. For instance, the Selamat and Bugaya villages in Semporna helped 71 and 76 dependents respectively.

The proceeds—a total of RM90,100—went to Yayasan Chow Kit, Heart to Heart Charity, and the Malaysia Red Crescent Society respectively to support their humanitarian efforts across Malaysia.

To all our Tatler friends who donated, a big thank you!
