Tatler Malaysia's first Christmas Ball kicks off with panache, a glittering evening of style, influence and charity

From joyous reunions with friends to dazzling outfits, Tatler Malaysia's Christmas Ball 2021 was ablaze with the festive spirit of goodwill, cheer and giving as guests descended upon the Grand Ballroom of the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, dressed in their finest.

After snapping photos to their hearts' content at the photo wall, guests began their evening with a sparkling array of Hennessy cocktails from Moët Hennessy Diageo and delicious canapés from Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, all set against the glittering backdrop of a giant Christmas tree by Pavilion Collection. The tree was decorated with sparkling tags bearing the names of 250 children from Sabah, the beneficiaries of Tatler's crowdfunding campaign on Give.asia in collaboration with Bantu Heroes Sabah—a charity initiative which saw a starting donation of RM10,000 from Pavilion Collection.

In the ballroom, guests were treated to a stellar gastronomic experience by Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur's Chef Junious Dickerson, paired with champagne and wines from Moët Hennessy Diageo.

Emcees for the night, Sean Ghazi and Ida Mariana, kept the mood upbeat and fun as they entertained the audience with a combination of feel-good Christmas tunes and light-hearted banter. As Tatler Malaysia's managing director Geraldine Beh took to the stage, she called on members of the Tatler community far and wide to continue in the spirit of generosity and giving.

"To say that the past two years have been difficult is truly an understatement, yet we are the lucky ones," she said. "There are others out there whom this pandemic has hit very hard, and none more so than children. Which is why this year's Tatler Ball is all about giving back to them."

On each table, message cards were placed and addressed to the various 250 children of this crowdfunding campaign. Guests were invited to write their messages of encouragement and hope to the kids and their families from communities that are among the worst impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, to be hand-delivered by Yayasan Chow Kit founder Dato'Dr Hartini Zainudin who will be visiting them in January next year.

Throughout the night, guests also had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction, bidding for a one-night stay at One&Only Desaru Coast's Villa 1 inclusive of a dinner for eight by David Dalhaus, a one-night stay at the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi's five-bedroom Imperial Beach Villa, and two Etihad Airways Business Class return tickets to London. The proceeds from the silent auction will go to Yayasan Chow Kit, Heart to Heart, and the Malaysia Red Cross Society respectively.
