The flip and fold phone is here to stay as Samsung unveils the third generation Galaxy Z Foldable smartphones with enhanced features
Following the groundbreaking release of Samsung's foldable smartphones in 2019 that created quite a buzz, this year Samsung delivers serious upgrades of the original models, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and the Z Flip3 5G, complete with intuitive improvements for a better user experience.
For instance, the Galaxy Z Flip3 gives you as close to a regular smartphone experience as possible, with a fold-up feature that fits neatly in your pocket, recalling the legendary retro design from the late '90s. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold3 can be opened up to transform into a mini tablet-sized screen.

More reasons to invest in one of these smartphones: its entire body including the hinge is now IPX8 water-resistant, meaning it shields the device against liquids from any directions and can actually be immersed in water. That said, we won't advise going swimming with it.
Both models now come in a new alloy called armour aluminium, the strongest material yet for a smartphone. The front and back are now covered in tough gorilla glass victus, which is 80 per cent more durable than glass. Hinge movement has also been reinforced for snappiness and rigidity. A bold change of the top protective layer over this folding glass is fundamentally very soft, yet it has an 80 percent durability improvement.
Fold which boasts the biggest screen on any phone now supports the accessory that many love from the Note series, the S Pen that now comes with a softer, retracting tip to minimise damage to the folding glass and cover material.
