What went down at the exclusive dinner ceremony unveiling the six winners of our second Front & Female Awards in Kuala Lumpur
Back for its second year in Kuala Lumpur, the Front & Female Awards Malaysia kicked off this month in a lively dinner ceremony on March 7, 2024, at The Silver Monkey, Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park.
Out of a list of 19 inspiring women, six winners were honoured at this event for their work to drive the progress of women and girls in Malaysia, from geneticists doing extensive breast cancer research to filmmakers championing diversity through film. Attended by an intimate group of 70 individuals, including activist Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Paratus Energy board chairperson Chow Mei Mei, renowned filmmaker Tunku Mona Reza and School of Concepts founder Mint Lim, the Front & Female Awards Malaysia 2024 is presented in partnership with BMW Malaysia, Sun Life Malaysia, Cartier, Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Minuty, Cosentino Malaysia and Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park.

The event started at 5pm, and early arrivals had the chance to snap a selfie or two by the swanky BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport display unit set up at the hotel’s lobby entrance exclusively for this event. They were later greeted on Level 24 with beautifully crafted canapés by The Silver Monkey and speciality Johnnie Walker Blue Label cocktails whipped up on the spot by a bartender.

The evening officially started on a strong note with an opening speech from our keynote speaker for the evening, former Women, Family and Community Development Minister Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil. She spoke candidly about her experience as a female politician in the male-dominated political sphere, balking the myth that women must become more like men in order to succeed in these spaces. After her speech, a video introducing this year’s nominees was played as the first course of dinner was served.
