One of the earliest international schools established in Vietnam, Renaissance Saigon was founded with a bold vision.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) has yielded record-breaking results for Renaissance Saigon in the 2024–2025 academic year—the highest in the school’s history and an impressive six points above the global average. The students’ academic ability and collaborative spirit have been the driving forces behind this achievement.
Now in its 20th year, Renaissance has cemented its status as one of Vietnam’s leading international schools. We reflect on its remarkable journey in conversation with Ms Nguyen Thuy Quynh, Founder of Renaissance International School Saigon.

Congratulations to Renaissance International School Saigon on its exceptional IBDP results for the 2024–2025 academic year. With multiple students scoring above 40 points, the school achieved an average of 36—the highest in its history and six points above the global benchmark. We would love to hear your thoughts.
Ms Nguyen Thuy Quynh: I am incredibly proud of this achievement. Renaissance was among the first international schools in Saigon to offer the world’s most comprehensive educational programmes—the International Baccalaureate (IB), alongside the globally recognised Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. Over the years, some of our students have attained perfect IBDP scores and continued their education at top universities, including Ivy League institutions. While results have fluctuated, they have consistently remained above the global average.
This year’s IBDP results mark a historic milestone for our school, highlighting not only our students’ academic prowess but also their teamwork and cohesion. Many of them have been with us since preschool—some for 15 or 16 consecutive years—benefiting from an education that nurtures both intellect and creativity. Beyond academics and research skills, our students excel in culture, sports, and the arts, embodying a holistic approach to learning. Their success is a testament to the strong foundation built by both their families and our school, and it inspires us to strive for even greater accomplishments.

What sets Renaissance apart from other international schools in Vietnam and across Asia?
Every school has its own strengths. Renaissance positions itself as the premier medium-sized international school in Vietnam, fostering a warm, close-knit community. Here, students receive individualised attention, and the family-oriented atmosphere ensures that everyone knows and supports one another. This sense of belonging is something that larger institutions often struggle to maintain.
We are also fortunate to have a highly engaged and well-educated parent community. They trust in our vision, prioritise their children’s education, and invest significant time in their development. Renaissance’s mission aligns with the broader objectives of Khai Sang Corporation: to cultivate global awareness, independent learning, and a deep sense of respect and responsibility in every student.

What inspired you to establish Renaissance International School Saigon?
Twenty years ago, we were simply parents searching for the right school for our children. After careful observation, we envisioned creating a school that would allow them to study long-term in Vietnam while meeting full international standards. In 2007, Renaissance was founded with purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities and a comprehensive curriculum spanning ages 2 to 18. From its inception, it was designed to be an international school of the highest calibre, making it one of the pioneering institutions of its kind in Ho Chi Minh City.
Like many parents seeking the best educational environment for their children, our idea initially seemed straightforward. However, our greatest motivation stemmed from a deep ambition for the next generation—a desire to provide them with both knowledge and integrity, shaping future global citizens who would benefit from the finest international education.

After 20 years of development, Renaissance is now recognised as a leading international school in Vietnam. Reflecting on this journey, what key milestones stand out to you?
We have worked tirelessly alongside a team of consultants, including esteemed educators, curriculum designers, recruitment specialists, and trainers. Renaissance has been built by an entirely international team of teachers, delivering an optimally designed curriculum based on the UK education system.
Over the years, the school has systematically aligned itself with globally recognised standards. Each step forward has been a significant milestone. Renaissance is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is a proud member of Cambridge, FOBISIA, and EARCOS—affiliations that open doors to a world-class education enriched by diverse extracurricular experiences.
Today, the school offers the world’s leading educational programmes, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Cambridge IGCSE for secondary students, as well as the British National Curriculum for primary and lower secondary levels, taught through internationally recognised pedagogical frameworks such as the PYP and MYP.
Yet, the most rewarding milestone is witnessing the growth and transformation of our students. Beyond their academic and research capabilities, they continue to excel in the arts and sports, achieving high distinctions in international competitions. Upon graduating from Renaissance, our students gain admission to top universities across the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and beyond.

Why did Renaissance choose to follow the British curriculum?
At Renaissance, we embrace traditional values while integrating the world’s finest educational systems. From the outset, we chose the British curriculum for its exceptional structure and depth of academic research. It remains one of the world’s most highly regarded educational models, providing a rigorous yet holistic foundation.
At the primary and secondary levels, our British curriculum is delivered through internationally recognised pedagogical methods, including the PYP and MYP. For older students, the combination of the British curriculum, IGCSE, and IB ensures optimal knowledge acquisition and seamless preparation for university.
Drawing upon a rich 500-year heritage of British education, Renaissance offers a meticulously designed curriculum from early years to Year 12, with a strong emphasis on the development of well-rounded individuals. Beyond academic excellence, our students are encouraged to explore their full potential in culture, sports, the arts, and social responsibility, shaping them into conscientious and capable global citizens.
