Babymonster's Haram, Ahyeon, Chiquita, Asa, Rora, Pharita, and Ruka give a more in-depth look into their lives in these vlog-like introduction clips

The world has seen Babymonster members Haram, Ahyeon, Chiquita, Asa, Rora, Pharita, and Ruka kill it in their live performance videos which were released gradually all through January and have earned the upcoming K-pop girl group more than one million followers on YouTube–an achievement for a rookie group that hasn't even officially debuted yet and an indicator of the excitement surrounding the girls' foray into the K-entertainment world. Now, YG Entertainment is giving fans a more in-depth look into their lives through longer-form, vlog-like introduction clips.

In the follow-up videos, the Babymonster members can be seen auditioning for YG Entertainment in their pre-trainee days, working hard for their monthly evaluations, overcoming struggles, hanging out with each other, and generally enjoying their activities outside of training.

Ruka (루카)

Premiered: February 8, 2023

Highlights: Babymonster's 20-year-old Japanese member Ruka, real name Kawai Ruka, has been dancing for 10 years. YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk revealed during her trainee days, she was never once criticised for her dancing. To improve her strength, she does pilates in her free time. Ruka's video also chronicles her journey in improving her pronunciation to rap better as she's not a native Korean speaker, which she has earned praise for. As well, she expressed how she feels about being the only person in her circle of friends whose time has 'stopped' due to her pursuit of becoming a K-pop idol.

Pharita (파리타)

Above Babymonster's Pharita reveals that Blackpink (in particular, Lisa) are her role models, and her determination to debut

Premiered: February 12, 2023

Highlights: Said to be the girl who looks like she’s 'straight out of a Disney film', Pharita, real name Pharita Chaikong, is a 17-year-old member of Babymonster. For her YG Entertainment audition, she danced along to Blackpink’s How You Like That and got in without question. In fact, she was handpicked from a whopping total of 1,226 applicants. Pharita says her role model is Blackpink and in particular, Lisa. In her introduction video, she shared her struggles in perfecting her dance moves, missing her mother in Thailand, and living in a dorm.

Rora (로라)

Above Babymonster's Rora takes fans through juggling her life as a trainee and a middle school student

Premiered: February 15, 2023

Highlights: Rora, real name Lee Dain, cutely botched her first monthly evaluation as a YG Entertainment trainee when she forgot the lyrics to her chosen song. Camila Cabello's Havana, and it's the reason why she hasn't listened to the song since. However, Rora has continuously impressed with her ability in expressing emotions through her singing like an old soul, covering the notoriously difficult-to-master When We Were Young by Adele. The Babymonster member also makes a two-hour trek to YG Entertainment's headquarters in Seoul every day after school for her training sessions. Yang revealed that she was given the stage name Rora to represent an artist who would 'shine bright like an aurora'.

Asa (아사)

Above Babymonster's Asa details her journey to perfecting her craft and even composing her first song

Premiered: February 19, 2023

Highlights: Fellow Japanese Babymonster member Asa, real name Enami Asa, first auditioned for YG Entertainment when she was only 12 years old, specialising in hip-hop dance. She first came across Blackpink’s Playing With Fire music video and fell in love with YG Entertainment’s distinctive hip-hop style. She eventually auditioned with the Blackpink song and was accepted into the label as a trainee. While she's known as the 'irreplaceable Ace' in dancing, Asa also excels at rapping and has composed her first song, Diary, under the guidance and tutelage of YG Entertainment's producer.

Chiquita (치키타)

Above Babymonter's Chiquita drops surprise footage of having a meal with Blackpink's Lisa

Premiered: February 22, 2023

Highlights: The youngest member of Babymonster, Chiquita, real name Riracha Phondechaphiphat, had the shortest training period among all the members. The 13-year-old was the last to join the Babymonster project. Her vlog documents her journey to finding her own vocal style, training both with a vocal coach as well as on her own. In large part, Chiquita's video focused on her and Pharita having a meal with their idol and the only other Thai K-pop idol signed to YG Entertainment, Blackpink's Lisa.

Ahyeon (아현)

Above Babymonster's Ahyeon shows off her determination to be the best at everything that she does

Premiered: February 26, 2023

Highlights: One of the most highly anticipated Babymonster members to debut, Ahyeon, real name Jung Ahyeon, has loved dancing since she was five years old and viewers were treated to clips of her dancing when she was young. A multilinguist, Ahyeon displayed her undisputed talent in picking up foreign languages, such as English and Chinese. She revealed that she started learning English ever since she was five years old and Chinese when she was seven years old. “I watched a lot of animations in English. My parents told me I would memorise all the lines after watching them. I think that’s when I started to be interested in foreign languages,” she said.

Haram (하람)

Premiered: March 1, 2023

Highlights: Last but certainly not least, YG Entertainment introduced 15-year-old Babymonster member Haram, real name Shin Haram. Haram had actually started her modelling career when she was only two years old, for toy and clothing commercials. When she auditioned for YG Entertainment, she wasn't confident that she would get in but due to her sheer willpower to succeed, she progressed really quickly and became one of the best trainees. During one of her monthly evaluations in 2019, she had to perform in front of her role model, Blackpink's Rose, who later praised her for her vocals. Haram also revealed that in her quest to perfect her dancing, she would practice for up to 10 hours a day and even rented a practice room near her house on her days off.

On May 11, 2023, YG Entertainment founder and head producer Yang Hyun-suk officialised the line-up for Babymonster–all seven girls will be debuting as the agency's newest K-pop group. While Babymonster's official debut date is still being kept under wraps, Yang confirmed that Babymonster is tentatively scheduled to debut by fall of 2023. As well, the soon-to-be-idols also released a music video for their pre-debut track titled, Dream.

On November 9, YG Entertainment uploaded a teaser and later released a visual film and photos for Babymonster, starting with Chiquita, the youngest of the group. The agency also confirmed that Babymonster is set to make its long-awaited debut on November 27 at midnight KST.
