French architect and designer Jean-Marie Massaud’s latest creation combines elegant design with Ramun’s eye safety technology
Ramun has recently launched Louise, a table lamp designed by French architect and designer Jean-Marie Massaud, as part of the high-end lighting brand’s 7 Stars Project.
Inspired by the Big Dipper constellation, the 7 Stars Project also includes founder Alessandro Mendini’s Campanello lamp, and Bella by Dutch designer and art director Marcel Wanders—aiming to redefine decorative lamps as life companions, illuminating both extraordinary moments and everyday living.

“A comforting, friendly, romantic, and intimate night light,” as described by Massaud, Louise blends elegant design with technological innovation, aligning its design codes with Ramun’s dedication to creating lamps that are not just works of art that enhance living spaces, but also sources of light that protect eye health.

The lamp’s distinctive lantern-shaped design features a tubular shade crafted from “Stainedpla,” a refined pleated material that embraces the light source in the most delicate manner, hence radiating a warm and inviting atmosphere that is suitable for various settings.
“On the dining table, as a candle light, she becomes the link between people, creating relationships,” Massaud muses. “She participates in a romantic and warm atmosphere, playing a delicate melody. At home, she’s a delicate extra or bedside lamp with a very French refinement.”
The light source for Louise is optimised for maximum photobiological safety: it emits no ultraviolet or infrared radiation, and is flicker-free, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience across its 20 levels of illumination.

Besides its refined visual appeal, the slim ring atop the shade allows for easy handling, while the circular base houses a micro-USB port for recharging and a power button to adjust light modes and brightness.
Other modern-day functionality includes an audio feature that plays ten classical melodies by composers such as Bizet, Bach, Chopin, and Schubert, as well as popular tunes like Happy Birthday and Silent Night, making it an ideal companion for meditative sessions, as well as celebratory gatherings.

Finally, engraved at the base of the Louise lamp are Massaud’s poetic words: La vie est une aventure faite de rencontres comme autant de lumières, which translates to “life is an adventure made of encounters, each like a light.”
This inscription encapsulates the lamp’s essence as a symbol of life’s illuminating moments, playing on the gift of a lamp that is seen in many cultures as a gesture of good fortune for illuminating the recipient’s path.
