Two Men Rice Bar
From the team behind Two Men Bagel House comes Two Men Rice Bar, a stand-and-chow concept inspired by the casual and convivial vibe of Japanese izakayas and sushi bars. Rice bowls are on offer here, and you’d be remiss not to try gems like the “Spam N’Things”, topped with spam, tater tots, and avocado drizzled in a black garlic demi-glace and garlic aioli for a crispy and umami treat. Another great choice is the “Bebop” with spice braised pork belly, rainbow slaw, and topped with tempura crumbs. And yes, there may be a bagel on the menu, but it’s a rice mantou variation stuffed with braised pork belly, cucumber, and leek slaw.

Wabi Sabi
Tucked away in Everton Park is Wabi Sabi, a new Japanese-inspired café serving up popular sandos and donburi bowls. The pork katsu sando is a classic choice, but those with a taste for steak can opt for the beef sando with sirloin steak, served with caramelised onions for extra umami. The salmon mentai bowl is also a good choice with its sashimi grade salmon drizzled with mentai sauce. Don’t miss the sukiyaki don either, which presents tender pork belly with caramelised onions, an onsen egg, and tobiko over a savoury sukiyaki sauce. Far East Flora has opened a new vertical flora centre in Clementi, replete with luscious flowers and a café to boot. It’s the perfect brunch spot, with all-day breakfast items such as avocado toast, shakshuka, a savoury waffle platter, as well as the café’s signature croffle. If you’re in the mood for something more filling, choose from any one of the mains, like a satisfying beef burger or succulent grilled king prawns. There is also a range of pastas in flavours like carbonara and shimeji mushroom pesto. Park Bäckerei, located at Icon Village at Tanjong Pagar, is opened by German-native Dennis von Berlepsch and his wife Jane Lee Richard, who have perfected the hand-shaped Swabian-style pretzels from southwest Germany. Each pretzel is dipped in a traditional lye solution for its beautiful, characteristic brown crust. Also on the menu are adorable pretzel buns shaped like hedgehogs and filled with a homemade caramel spread. If you’re looking for a quick weekday lunch, opt for the savoury bagels and sandwiches, such as the Caprese pesto bagel and the “Sausage Kraut” sandwich starring smoked bratwurst and crispy fried onions.

Book Bar
Bibliophiles here have long dreamed of more spaces to chill, eat and read in the good company of books. At Book Bar, you can do exactly that. This independent bookstore-cum-café spotlights Singaporean voices in literature alongside a café menu that includes drinks like coffee and green tea, perfect when served with pandan chiffon cake and kaya. This HDB-themed café in Dhoby Ghaut has been making its rounds on social media for its imaginative replication of HDB blocks from a not-so-distant past. Fans love the inherent charm of this hidden café, which pays homage to HDB estates built in the ‘70s and ‘80s. A hidden elevator within sister bar Mama Diam takes you up to the café, which offers local classics served with a twist. A crab and ricotta ravioli, for instance, is tossed in a chilli crab sauce, while tiger prawns and Nonya chicken curry are served alongside a French baguette. Here, even the iconic Chinese herbal syrup Pei Pa Koa is made into a latte, perfect for washing this hearty café fare down.
Make sure to stick around by night, where the space turns into a cocktail bar. Creations include the “Osmanthus”, after the classic Chinese dessert, starring osmanthus-infused Old Tom gin, Barsol Pisco Quebranta, Lilet Blanc, and St-Germain.

Bacha Coffee has opened its newest outlet at Marina Bay Sands called Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue, spanning a stunning 300 square metres. With black-and-white chequered tiles, white-and-gold latticework and beautifully-crafted caftans displayed on the walls, the space is reminiscent of the luxurious coffee rooms of Marrakech. The menu includes over 200 coffees (including single origin coffees from Ecuador, Nepal, Yirgacheffe and elsewhere) and a selection of exquisite pâtisseries to boot.
Outlet exclusives here include the blueberry and lavender croissant, which is only available until September. If you’re looking for savoury options, there is also a range of savoury croissants or truffle scrambled eggs for an indulgent brunch.

This popular bakery has opened its first dine-in outlet along Tanjong Pagar. Fifty Five Coffee Bar
Fifty Five Coffee Bar is a quaint café along trendy Neil Road with a selection of specialty tea, coffee and matcha alongside freshly baked pastries and hearty lunch treats. Café Lilac by Whisking Bakes

The café has revolutionised the traditional Teochew orh nee (sweet yam paste) by filling it in a tart (the first of its kind in Singapore) that pleases with a buttery crust and a soft yam filling. With its grand opening only last month, Ten+ is a blazing newcomer at Sungei Tengah Road with its safari-themed interiors and open-air concept. The baked snapper with sambal aioli is a highlight, sitting atop pumpkin mash, salsa, and sautéed kale.

Japanese roastery Takagi Coffee made its highly anticipated international debut in Singapore late last month, and it is already making waves in the café scene. Here, coffee beans sourced from Indonesia, Nicaragua, Rwanda and more are roasted freshly in-house to make a blend that’s rich, dark and intense.
Here, you’ll be treated to an extensive menu that includes a katsu sando, which pairs fluffy white bread with a deep-fried chicken cutlet for a satisfying brunch. This newest bagel house has opened its doors along Everton Park and serves up a hearty selection of gourmet bagel sandwiches. Bagels here rolled by hand and prepped fresh daily. Besides the usual suspects of smoked salmon and cream cheese, try the Bag Me Up signature instead and find soft unagi, ham and lettuce stuffed between perfectly toasted bagel slices. Mooi Patisserie
Hidden in Alexandra Technopark is Mooi Patisserie, the latest concept helmed by Gail Ho, former head pastry chef of Michelin-starred Korean restaurant, Meta. At this patisserie, Ho serves up a range of mouth-watering pastries like the Mokasha, a decadent pastry comprising a crisp buckwheat tart shell generously filled with chocolate biscuit, light vanilla Chantilly, and a rich buckwheat caramel centre. The treat is topped with a smooth coffee-infused dark chocolate 66 per cent cremeux.
