Explore the new restaurants, bars, and cafés that September has to offer

Our local dining scene experiences constant evolution. Fresh faces continually emerge, punctuating our established and diverse culinary landscape with welcome innovation and novelty. Every month seems to offer up a slew of new restaurants and charming coffeehouses, keeping things exciting for bona fide foodies and die-hard cafe-hoppers.

We put together a list of recently opened dining venues at the beginning of each month, compiling new restaurants, cafés, and bars into a handy guide you can refer to when in search of the next must-visit eatery. The month of September sees Asian staples finding their way into almost every pocket of the Klang Valley alongside coffee bars, pasta spots, and cocktail haunts blossoming as near as Petaling Street and as far as Johor.

When in search of tipples, venture through Petaling Street to find Chinatown’s newest watering hole before making your way to APW Bangsar for a steaming bowl of claypot rice or braving the streets of Changkat to check out its newest addition, a contemporary izakaya focused on Japanese-style Western fare.

Its soft launch menu is also home to slow roasted lamb shoulder pappardelle topped with burnt edamame, a version of crab hor fun crafted with whole crab and burnt cream, truffle fettuccine with citrus-stained ham, and comforting desserts.

The weather’s been getting colder, hasn’t it? Monsoon season has never sounded better with the opening of Ramen Minamo, the city’s newest ramen joint. Helmed by Chihiro Miyazaki, Ramen Minamo sets itself apart by specialising in chicken broth.

According to Miyazaki, the most popular ramen spots in Tokyo favour chicken to craft their broths. Diners can expect three variations of chicken ramen here—Shiro, a decadent and creamy version; Shoyu, a soy-based soup; and Aka, a fiery variety.
